My teacher recently notified me that I’ve been misbehaving in his class and even though he wouldn’t write a behavior referral to the principal, he would still talk to the school counselor about my current situations. In class, I didn’t focus and made stupid jokes, and talked to my friends. He gave me a right to state why I have been misbehaving and I answered that it’s hard for me to make friends and interacting with friends in class was one way I got closer with my friends. I know that I have to manage my social life and academic life separately and do both things well, but I guess I was immature at that time. I fully regret and I promised him I would change immediately. I’m applying early decision and my counselor is just about to send my docs to the college. If my counselor finds out about it, would he write this in the counselor recommendation letter? Or since I didn’t get a behavior referral so will it be okay? Would minor misbehavior in just one class be considered more heavily than all my amazing accomplishments in high school?
This is something that you would need to ask your counselor about. He is the only person who knows what he can or would do.
I’m not sure that a senior talking and horsing around a bit in class will keep you out of college.
I think it should serve as a wakeup call that it’s time to start behaving better, but that’s probably it. If there has been no referral written, I think you’re OK.
But, speaking as a Senior teacher, I will say this: Cut it Out!!
If you asked the teacher to write you a recommendation, then it would not be a positive one.
I am sure the GC will have a more big picture view of you…based on your grades and ECs as well as anything he/she hears from the teacher.
