Soooooooo... I have a slight issue.
I took English 11 this summer, and I'm now in a bit of a quandary. I'm taking AP Lit next year, and at my school, AP Lang has roughly the same curriculum as Eng 11, so I'm not doing that again. Unfortunately, this means that I'm without an English class my senior year. How much do colleges care about this? What should I do instead?
Thanks,
R.

I did the same thing. Since you took all your ‘required’ English courses, take a class that complements your ECs. I self-studied Euro with my free block; if you’re a science person, you could take AP Physics or AP Chem. Colleges generally look at it as a good thing – you’re using your summer to be productive.

Maybe you can take a community college class

I don’t understand your predicament. You said you’re taking AP Lit, and I don’t understand how that’s not an English corse.

Oh, excuse me. I just realized that you’re probably a Junior next year. Never mind.
My advice to you would be to switch classes when school starts and take AP Lit your senior year. Take something else next year. Like a science or another history. Or something fun that you’re interested in that may not be an AP. That way, when you take AP Lit, the information is more stable in your brain when you go to college and you won’t have that awkward situation of being the only Junior in a Senior class.

If you took Eng 11 over the summer, it should appear on the transcript (if it was an official course) in which it would count for the year you are missing. Make sure you talk to your guidance department to ensure that it appears on your transcript so colleges know. Though, for may, it might be worth it to take the AP Lang exam to show that you are proficient for the English class you took. Maybe self-study another AP with your extra time.
