I'm a rising sophomore at Yale, and I just heard from a friend that they uploaded the new entries into the Yale phonebook early. If you don't want to wait for the packet from your college master, you can check your college assignment through the Yale phonebook. I'd personally recommend waiting for the mail, but if you want to know now:

Go to http://scripts.its.yale.edu/cgi-bin/ph
Enter your name
Look at the entry for Campus Address. The first abbreviation is your dorm on Old Campus (or Silliman or TD), which are specific to each college. Some of the Old Campus dorms are split; if you are in LW, Bingham, or Vanderbilt, look to the next abbreviation, which is your entryway. FYI, the number that comes next is your suite floor (first digit) and number (second digit). Depending on what college you're in, you might have a final letter, which is your room assignment within the suite.
SM=Silliman College
TD=Timothy Dwight College
F=Farnam and Jonathan Edwards College
L=Lawrance and Ezra Stiles College
W=Welch and Davenport College
D=Durfee and Morse College
B=Bingham and either Calhoun College or Trumbull College. I think that Calhoun is entryways A and B, and Trumbull entryway D, but I'm not sure about C.
V=Vanderbilt and either Berkeley (that's me!) or Branford. Entryways A-C are Branford, and entryways D-F are Berkeley.
LW=Lanman-Wright and either Saybrook or Pierson. Entryways A-C are Saybrook and entryways D-F are Pierson.

Congratulations on whichever college you're in, and I'll see you in August! Get pumped! Oh, and let me know if this wasn't clear.

Not to rush things, but if you're interested, you can also figure out your roommates.

Type in:

campus_address=A43

where A43 is your own entryway/floor/room combo. Not everyone listed is your roommate, but it narrows it down enough that you can tell who shares your address and your college!

BKCat-can you explain how old campus works? How many roommates will we have? How many rooms in the suite? Do any of us get singles (within the suite)?

It all depends on which dorm/college you're in. You will probably have a roommate, but it really depends. If you're in Lanman Wright or Vanderbilt, you will almost certainly have a roommate, but it really depends. There are only singles and doubles at Yale. The freshman suites range from a few doubles in Vanderbilt to some ten-person suites in Welch. Most suites are between four and eight people.

If you tell me which dorm you're in, I can give you some specifics. However, one of the really fun things about Yale housing is that each suite is a bit different, in terms of layout, size, and view.

What floor are you on? The fifth floor is weird - it's a true hallway that connects the entryways, and I think that there are single or double rooms up there. There are also annexed juniors. However, the vast majority of LW suites are quads: you enter the suite, into the common room, and there are two doors on the same side of the common room, each leading to a double. The common rooms have fireplaces and windowseats, but the bedrooms themselves are small by Yale standards.

If you're searching the phonebook by your complete room assignment, it may be that you're searching not for your suite but for your specific room. If you're including the letter that comes at the end of your "campus address," after the two-digit number, then you should replace that letter with an asterisk in your query. That way it will search for all the rooms in that suite. However, it may also be that you have fewer than four people in your suite.
