Describing The 12 Colleges?!?

Hey -

To all current Yale students or matriculating students for the Class of 2009, AP tests just ended and for once I'm actually bored! So I was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the residential college system - in some more detail and depth than available online or in the guidebooks.

I heard that each college has a unique flavor so while we're waiting, I thought it would be cool for those who know to post a little bit about what makes each college distinct so we can think about it until we find out in July where we are going to live for the next four years!

Here are the colleges in order. All I know right now is that Davenport was the college of the Bush's and that JE has an artistic bent. These kinds of things plus what unique features the colleges have (in the way of food, studios, IM sports, whatever) would be interesting to learn about while we wait...

Berkeley -
Branford -
Calhoun -
Davenport -
Ezra Stiles -
Jonathan Edwards -
Morse -
Pierson -
Saybrook -
Silliman -
Timothy Dwight
Trumbull -

One thing to remember is that while each college may have a unique "feel," it is not one that is intentionally created by the committee when colleges are assigned. In other words, there isn't an "artsy" college, a "jock" college, an "intellectual" college, etc.

Personally, I think the architecture defines the feel of the college, but that's coming from a soon-to-be architecture major. ;)
