Class of '10 represent!

A nice thing is that it sounds like the school has a lot of recruiters & tries hard to help its students get internships & jobs that help theim in their careers. Getting a degree is nice, but finding a career you love & getting started on it is ever so much nicer!

Yo, I'm a CNTV major with a track in Critical Studies. I'm really excited about going to USC next year. I've only been to USC, and LA for that matter, once. I probably won't be back until move-in, so leave some classes for me!

Hey,
I'm Sean I'll be going in as an undeclared major. Anyway i really wanted to study Film (production) and even though I got accepted at Tisch (NYU) and rejected by CNTV well USC is where I really want to be.....I'll just re-apply next year I guess.
Oh I almost forgot I'm pretty much going in blind as I live in France right now and have never studied in the US....kind of making me nervous lol

Hi everyone! I'm a psych major from the town next to Misoobishi's (it's California's other LA!). I go to an all-girls school right next to Stanford. I'm strongly considering majoring/minoring in communications or journalism, but as I didn't apply to Annenberg I have to figure out how to do that.

I'm a huge film music fan, and one of the reasons why I'm going to USC is because they've got the best film scoring program in the world, at least at the graduate level. Is anyone here interested in the undergrad film scoring program? Sadly I'm not much of a musician (I sing second alto and play the hand bell chimes) or else I would've wanted to go into Thornton.

bmanbs2, sorry to hear about your flight instructor.

By the way, is anyone else here doing TO? It sounds really interesting but I'm afraid that once I start taking the classes I'll discover that I'm too stupid!

Whoooa do you go to Castilleja? (I live in "LA" as well!)

I'm doing TO as well :)

Yup! I would've gone to Mountain View otherwise; you probably know a lot of my old elementary school classmates!

Oh awesome! You should have gone to MV :( There are a lot of people going to USC this year! Last year there was only one...this year, there are at least 5-6 people going.

Well, I guess I can finally write this: Son is sending in the deposit today. USC starts in August! Turning down HMC, Vanderbilt, Northwestern, and Penn State Honors for computer science at Viterbi.

There are 5-6 others going to USC from Castilleja, too! We Bay Area freshman ought to have some kind of get-together during welcome week and hang out.

And congrats to your son, reasonabledad :)

^ lol We really should! (When are you going to orientation?) I heard Castilleja had a tough time getting people into Stanford this year. MV usually gets 6-10 people in, but this year, we had a fantastic 3.

Congrats reasonabledad! Now I don't feel as bad for turning down HMC. :)

I really hope I can go to the first orientation session (third week of June, if I remember correctly?) as I plan to go down to Disneyland with a friend right afterwards :) If I don't end up getting that first session, then I'll probably go sometime in early July. How about you?

I know of three classmates definitely going to Stanford as of Friday, but there may be one or two more who'll be entering next year. Casti used to be a feeder school to Stanford-two years ago 10 students matriculated there with roughly five others who got in but didn't end up attending. I heard that Stanford is letting in fewer local students overall.

I'm going 27-28 (the second one I think). Yeah, the new Stanford dean of admissions hates the bay area. Ugh.

Represent! Well, I guess I'll represent both NorCal and SoCal. I was born in Oakland, so represent! I went to toddler school in Alameda, so represent! I went to /preschool/elementary/middle school in Castro Valley, so represent! Then I moved to Cypress in SoCal, so represent! Then I moved to Cerritos, so represent! And... yeah.

Anyways, I put my major as History, but hearing that it is relatively easy to change majors, I might convert to Business Adminstration or International Relations... maybe major/major or major/minor. Yep, so fight on!

Retroactivity ~ Thank you, and congrats on your scholarship! Now that my son is attending, I like to see all of these "super-girls" also attending. It improves his chances!

For5aken ~ I'm glad you're not going to HMC. We visited briefly just before the last ExploreUSC, and we were stunned by the broken-spirited and silent kids just sitting, dazed, in front of their dorms. They looked like they had just walked out of a very, very tough final exam, and it was Saturday! That decided it for us.

hey guys! I'm from the San Gabriel Valley. Majoring in biological sciences and i'm in the trojan admission prepharmacy (TAP) program. i'll be going to usc in the spring and i'm pretty excited! =)

tis true. all of our top 10ish students were rejected. two got in, but on athletic recruitment

reasonabledad: I went on the Sunday of their reception, just to look at the campus. Apparently, there was a big tequila/margarita party the same day, but the campus was empty because people were attending lectures. I didn't get to see any broken-spirited people, maybe because I'm pretty broken-spirited myself.

rdang: Congratulations on TAP! I'm Biochem/pre-pharm though. BTW, why aren't you going in the fall?

For5aken: thanks! USC gave me spring admission rather than a fall one. hopefully they change their mind once they know who is going to enroll. they said i would know around mother's day if my admission is changed to fall, and my birthday is on mother's day... sooo i'm keeping my fingers crossed on that one.

rdang: Good luck! I just find it wierd that you were admitted to a competitive program such as TAP but given admission for spring.
