Wow! CC is telling me this forum has been inactive for 30 days. Does that mean that I am the only person out here interested in R-MWC? I'd be very surprised by that!

So I applied and have been accepted for fall '06 admission. I'm not sure if I will end up attending R-MWC or not ... I want to hear financial aid packages and such from other schools I've applied to before I commit. R-MWC is a good school, though!

My mom is an alum, and I visited campus in the fall -- great campus, great current students and great admission staff! I personally felt very at home at R-MWC. I'm especially interested in their Theatre program.

Love to hear others' thoughts on the college...

I'M INTERESTED!!! I just got accepted last weekend, and I'm not sure if I'll go either...the prospect of being without the male sex is kind of strange to me. But the scholarships are pretty good and I really like the school in terms of classes and other opportunities, so who knows?

Hi, there, interesting to here from two of you! :D, I applied RD and now I am waiting for Admission decission. It is really a tough time. Did you all apply for ED or RD too?

Yes, I like RMWC: Nice campus, falculty and admittedly, the main reason for me to apply is a all- female environment. I have learnt in boy-haunted classes for 3 years in high school because my class in Physics Specilized class. Will besides, the science programs at RMWC are awesome rite, they have really high rank in National Physics, etc

BTW, I am from Viet Nam. So what do you think about my scholarship and aid chance? I don't know if they can offer me a full aid package??

Any way, very happy to hear from you :D. Hope to see all of you in person next year, huh :D :))

I applied RD. I don't really know much about the science programs at R-MWC; I'm looking at their English/Creative and Theatre programs.

You're from Viet Nam ... that's so cool! I know that R-MWC has a really high percentage of international students. They've put a great emphasis on creating a very diverse campus community. The diversity is one of the things that has attracted me to the College.

littlecalf,
It's great that you're applying to RMWC. The International Students Admissions Counselor is Holly Folkening, and she is the best admissions counselor I've met from any of my colleges. She's really helpful about any questions you may have (I know this b/c she's my counselor too, though I'm from NC). You should try to email her and let her know about your interests. If she knows how much you like the school, she'll truly advocate your acceptance.

Other than that, I also don't know much about financial aid for international students...I'd take TheatreChic's advice and go look up things on the website, or email Holly and ask her.

If you do get accepted, let me know...right now theres about a 60% chance that I'm actually going to attend RMWC, so it'll be nice to get to know other people beforehand.

Thank you all very much for you kind comments. YEAH, I have contacted and emailed Ms. Holly Folkening and asked her my application questions. She was very kind with me, yes. But actually, I dont' want to ask an adcom about Financial Package BEFORE I get admitted :D.

sweetpri210, As an international student, I look forward to a diverse and friendly community like home too. I will inform immediately if I get admitted, OK :D So really hope to see you soon.

Ah, if any one here like to look at some beautiful pictures of my country and listen to a song written in French named "Bounjour Vietnam"

I was notified of my acceptance by e-mail today. I'm so happy, especially since this is my first acceptance. :) I'm not sure if I'll be in the class of 2010, though.

I attended a large public high school in a suburb of Houston. I thrived on competing with the guys academically. I didn't really give any thought to how different it would be to attend college without guys. What I discovered at Randolph-Macon Woman's College was that there are many really brilliant women in this country. While I'd been a top student in my h.s., I was only average at R-MWC. I really loved the women only environment. I also studied in England on their Reading program and that only solidified my respect for my classmates as we grew closer. You have the rest of your life to compete with guys in the workworld, so I highly recommend time to remove them as a diversion. Having said that, I met a guy from Washington and Lee my freshman year and we've been married for 25 years so don't fool yourself into thinking there will be no guys around at a women's college. You will have opportunities if you want them, but you get to make the choice. Good luck on your decision. I would just caution you about ruling out women's colleges in your process.

TexasMom,
I'm planning to go to med school after my 4 years of undergrad, and the only major decision i have between RMWC and my in state public college is the cost. RMWC is giving me a scholarship that covers more than half the cost of the college, and the remaining balance is about equal to that of UNC (in state college). UNC is a huge school with about 15000 people, but is excellent for pre-med preparation, and while I prefer the smaller, more closely-knit RMWC, I don't know if it is worth it to spend so much on an out of state private college before med school. Since you actually attended, do you think that going to RMWC was better than attending a regular public university?

My family couldn't begin to afford the cost of R-MWC 25 years ago when I was looking at colleges. I was SO impressed that the college gave me a financial aid package that meant it didn't cost me anymore than it would have cost me to attend a Texas state school. I really enjoyed Macon and realize what a chance I took going there sight unseen. It simply offered me a better education than I ever dreamed of. I did love the small environment. I've remained rather active with the college as my class' secretary and stay in touch with about 100 of my classmates via e-mail. The closeness and level of concern for one another continues to grow. I can't begin to address how Macon's premed program stacks up to what you're looking at in your state school. I have several classmates who went on to study medicine even though a formal premed program didn't exist when we were at the school. I'd be glad to put you in touch with one whose a dr. in PA. She'd be in a better position to answer your questions about how the program prepared her for a career in medicine. I feel certain she's probably in a good position to comment on Macon's premed program.

I would really appreciate getting her contact information from you. my email is sweetpri210@gmail.com, so please send it there. Thanks for all your input!

Congratulations! I'm a 1980 graduate of R-MWC. I really enjoyed my time at Macon. Virginia is an incredibly beautiful state and the college is a really great learning environment. You're in for a wonderful experience. Feel free to ask any questions you may have about the school.

Yep! Mailed the check a week ago for the deposit and I've been in touch with a few girls who currently attend the school! I am so excited because they have been so nice to me and the school is just absolutely lovely. I am def. going to the school I want to go.

This is Sabina from Nepal. I have been accepted from Randolph-Macon Women College too. I am looking forward to join it. Hope to you meet you all there.
