We were there last week and were told that Ms. Alley was out due to the unexpected death of her father. Neil Adams stepped in and did a great job

I have a 4.14 weighted GPA, a 3.93 unweighted GPA, and I currently have a 25 on my ACT and a 1720 on my SAT. I’m retaking both (in Sept. and Oct.) and am hoping for a 28 so that I can be admitted to the Honors College… but should I just apply now (with the low test scores) and then once I retake the tests and hopefully get a higher score send those in… or should I just wait to retake the tests and then apply for both?

^^^
You can apply now and retest in the fall. If you get the 28, you can then apply to the HC. You don’t have to wait.

TIP…also take the SAT…and just study the Math and CR sections. Those are the only ones that count.

What was your ACT breakdown? If the SR section was low, then you may do much better on the SAT which has no Science section. Get a SAT practice book.

Mom2college kids our visit is scheduled for October 3rd! I just checked my son’s application status and it doesn’t show that he is accepted yet. Not sure why, we have been accepted at KU (still waiting for honors). He applied in July. I sent an email to double check if something is missing. Do you think it is a good idea for my son to retake the ACT, he received a 33. His math was a 32 and he thinks that is on the low side for him. He missed concepts/questions that were from his 8th grade Algebra. Would it make a difference for admission into the honors program?

^^^
It won’t make a difference for admission or the honors college which admits by minimum stats…which your son has.

No one has been accepted yet. I heard that admissions was busy processing transfers first (those starting THIS fall). So, I imagine that once school starts on Wednesday, Admissions can switch gears and begin next year’s frosh admissions.

Hi I am a student who is applying to University of Alabama for fall 2015 semester.
I just filled out the application.
I am just trying to confirm that thee is no essay required if I am not applying for honors college and that the university does not ask for extra circular activities in the application.

There is no specific essay on the application but, make sure that you do the essay on the ACT or take the SAT which has an essay as part of the test. My son took the ACT in April and then we discovered that he needed the essay portion as part of the admission requirement, so he took the SAT in June. Please see link:

@daminus for UA Honors College, you do complete a sort of ‘essay’ - they want you to tell something about yourself - after UA admission, look at HC info.

As other poster said about UA seeing writing portion of ACT or having SAT which has writing for UA admission.

I just visited. I was really surprised how much I liked it. My mom was very prejudiced going in considering the other schools I’m looking at are ranked higher, but she actually liked it. Definitely a revisit assuming I get it.

My daughter is a junior Chemical Engineering major, CBH minor from Littleton, CO. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I can put you in touch with her.
