Meh, it was worth a try.

If you haven't gotten your welcome letter, call admissions and find out what's going on.

Wait--is the welcome letter the thing from the Dean of Students and/or Dean O'Neill? I received that, but is that all? I'm waiting for some Chicago mail!

My son has received the two letters - a welcome letter, and another one. I think the welcome letter was in the big envelope with the poster and decal.

Ah-hah I just found the "we recieved your housing application and deposit" letter!!! Thank god for spring cleaning....

Dont you love it when that happens

um, i havent listed myself here, so here goes:

I want my welcoming letter!!

U of C is the only school that hasn't send me anything so far.. I have been contacted by various students, alumni, directors, student assossiations, and department chairs from other schools that I got accepted into ..!!! An admission officer at one school even called my college advisor to express her disappointment at my decision..x( .. I feel so unwanted at Chicago..maybe I should have sent my deposit to a LAC that sent me 2 handwritten letters, countless materials, and endless e-mails(+calls)...

Even after I submitted my confirmation, the U of C continues to ignore me completely............... tears...

How pathetic am I... I still love the U of C.....

Husky Sky, let me give you a different perspective on it. When I met Ted O'Neill, I was impressed that he had enough SELF RESPECT not to kiss my ass. What kind of accomplished man sucks up to high schoolers?

yea, I agree, but it seems like the U of C does make an effort for certain selected people...

psh, i would never join a club that would accept me as a member anyway.

haha..a valid point..

delirious: a woody allen fan?

Husky Sky -
call admissions and verify that they received your deposit - mention you haven't received the welcome letter. It may be that the USPS is ignoring you!

"i would never join a club that would accept me as a member anyway."

I believe is a quote from Groucho Marx, not Woody Allen..., but I am a fan of both. Though Woody is known for many great lines of his own including, "the reason my first wife and I divorced is that every time we had an argument, she would end up proving I didn't exist. Perhaps his first wife was a UChicago grad!

Groucho said it, but Woody made it widespread with the opening monologue of "Annie Hall." :)

Annie Hall is probably my favorite movie of all-time...it's between that and Raiders of the Lost Ark.

On another note, I'm pretty upset that for the past week, Chicago hasn't returned my emails or letter asking for a deferral...I've been too busy to call, but if I don't get anything Monday, I will.
