i thought it wasn't going to open to the 30th. but anyway, it seems cool though.

Yah, they just well.. surprise people

I dont get this, can RD find their decision on this???? send the link if you can!!!!!!!

I think you can find out your admissions status by clicking on the link above. I tried, I didnt get in =/.

In order to figure out your admissions status, click on the link above. Then click "Important Steps for Enrolling students". Then click "Get connected" , after that retrieve your GWid by clicking on "click here to visit the Gwid website". You will be able to retrieve your GWid because you applied and thus are entered in thier data base. Choose the third option of "SSN + Date of Birth". Type in your info and you will get your GWid. Then look at the bottom left hand side of the page and click " Next, activate your pin". The pin requires a user name, which will be your GWid and a password which is your month of birth, year of birth followed by 99. If it works, then you're in, if not then...well...your me =/. Congrats to everyone else!

Sorry if these instructions suck, if you just click the link above you can figure it out on your own lol

I copied the link again for your convience, http://gwired.gwu.edu/freshmen/

I'm pretty sure that only works if you'll be an enrolling student. I'll quote from the site:

Please note that once your declaration of intent form is received, you will be able to retrieve your GWid and create your NetID/GW email address which will allow you to register for housing, select your Colonial Inauguration (summer orientation program) session, and choose a class registration date.

Alan is right, GW, unlike most schools, will only let you activate you account when your deposit and D.O.I. is recieved in office. You have no way of knowing whether you have been accepted until the letter comes, so good luck!

I did the above and got a GW id. Was this not a good idea? Does anyone who enters information just get a GW id? Am I now oficially enrolling even though I am not surely accepted? Oh stupid me for doing any of this.

did i just enroll by doing what Ilovegtown said?

haha, sillies! you didn't just enroll, don't worry. you have to put down a deposit of $800 to really be enrolled. getting a GW id just probably means you were accepted?

i think you're right brilliant ... it prob means ur accepted

well thank you very much brilliantmusings. you somewhat relieved my stress.

Daughter was able to log on to GWeb last year just before her acceptance packet arrived. You will not be able to register for housing, orientation or classes (this year's class gets to enroll online rather than stressing over it at orientation--yay for this change) until they receive your $800. enrollment deposit. Good luck to everyone who is waiting.

So....is trying to log in harmless or not?

nevermind.

As much as I'm dying to try to log in, and as much as I'm sure that there wouldn't be any harm in doing so even if I decided not to go, this is making me fight the urge:

You may use this option only if you are a new student who has officially accepted an offer of admission but has not yet registered for courses.

does having an id mean you're accepted or does being able to get a pin means you're accepted?

i think whoever gave the info to go and get a user id was wrong. GW will send out their notifications by mail and that is it. you can't preempt the whole procedure.

I'm pretty sure the

isn't targeted at applicants who want to find out their admissions status. It's just to tell people that they can only use that option to get their GWID once - apparantly because they want to back off from using SSNs for everything. So you can't use your SSN to get your GWid after you have registered for courses (by which time, presumably, you will have received other credentials that you can use to verify your identity). The "you may ... only if" means "this will only work if", not "I don't want you to do this unless".

Anyway, I tried it. It gave me my ID, so it looks like I'm in. :-)

Hm...I was able to get a GWid. Haha I'm a little scared now I did something I shouldn't have, but hopefully it's a good sign? I guess we'll see as I don't want to get my hopes up.
