Post your rejections. Rant. Complain. Get all the harsh feelings out. We will listen, and we will not judge.

Ohio State: You should have admitted me. You were not my safety, you were my second choice.

University of Washington: You should have admitted me. I was above the 75th percentile on SAT, ACT, and GPA.

University of Wisconsin (deferred): You should admit me. I’m way above average and I see no reason for you to keep me waiting even though I’m already going to another school that’s way more awesome than your school.

Such a great thread.

You know what’s cool?
Getting into your #1.
You know what sucks?
Not being able to pay for it.

The most brutal and straightforward rejection I ever got, right here:

There was no follow up whatsoever, not even a rejection letter. Just that cold, brutal statement above, posted online.

That was the only rejection that really set me off.

^Wow. Harsh.

I like it when they really get in there to soothe your ego. It’s like “It’s not your fault you didn’t get in. We just had too many strong applicants.”

That’s very comforting, thanks.

I actually kinda like the harsher rejections. I know there’s a strong applicant pool. I know that I’m not the best. Stop rubbing it in I failed. But that’s just me.

I never got a rejection so I don’t know your pain :).

Yay for liking non-prestigious schools :D.

I only got a 2290 on the SAT and 35 on the ACT =[
I almost got a B in an AP class =[
I almost didn’t get accepted into college =[

I was deferred from Brown but the letter was pretty nice and ED was a huge mistake for me to begin with (serious financial aid concerns, and Brown isn’t the most generous school for internationals), so it wasn’t a huge deal. Sent them a letter declaring my love, and applied to 14 other schools.

Yale: Deferred from SCEA Yale is fair enough but to then get a letter from the head of the Yale (Graduate) School of Music saying essentially “If you are planning on taking a gap year, you should consider applying to Yale School of Music in the fall. Based on the supplement for your Yale College application you would be considered a very strong candidate for the School of Music”

I’ve not yet been rejected anywhere. BUT…

I was not accepted to my Cambridge college of choice. I was pooled by Christ’s, this gorgeous college known for being quite academically competitive that has pretty good May Balls. They sent me an email (letters take too long) and it was like “You’re qualified for Cambridge, but not for us! So we’ve thrown you into a pool and we hope some other college fishes you out!” It hurt, man.

Please shut up. You’re going to Princeton. And how do you almost not get accepted?

^The same way you almost get a B

Grisam, tomjonesistheman is a senior so he could not have gotten into Princeton University yet since their decisions don’t come out for another two months or so.

^ ed ?

TJITM is a QuestBridge Match.

I still have yet to be rejected. waiting… waiting… waiting for April
What’s sad is that my safety has been sending me so much mail… it’s really annoying but somewhat… persuasive. =O

Harvard, Princeton and Yale don’t offer early decision. Yale, however, offers single-choice early action.
