Class of 2011!!

Hello everyone. I was accepted with the class of 2009, but deferred martriculation, so I'll be with you guys in the Class of 2011. I applied ED, but was deferred and eventually accepted RD.

Alright so if you're in this forum you're probably interested in Williams, and I'd like to wish you all the best in the admissions process. There're plenty of knowledgeable people (parents, alumni and current students) who come on here from time to time, so you're probably at as good a place to ask questions about Williams as there is on the web.

If you need any advice or have any questions or anything that like feel free to PM me. I'm not too far removed from the admission process, so maybe I can be of some help :)

Hey, sixsixty, whats you intended major? Just curious, why did you defer matriculation?

What do you think got you into Williams?

I'm not certain about what I'll be majoring in yet, probably a double major in Political Economy and something else.

I'm from Singapore so I have to complete military service before heading off to college.

Uhh frankly I don't know, I thought it was a pretty long shot, but I guess showing A LOT of interest paid off.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by showing A LOT of interest? Just curious since I'm trying to transfer there (really tough to do, I know) for the Fall of 2007.

I'm happy to hear that Williams is drawing in some international folks! Wow, military service...tough stuff?

Showing interest: applied early, only person in my country to have an interview, built a relationship with the admissions representative etc.

Lol nah military service wasn't that tough, not in my case anyway. I represented the army in a sport so I had a pretty good time :)

not tough? i heard singapore is pretty tough. don't you get caned if you spit gum on the street or something?

sixsixty, I read on here and on the Williams website that interviews were not considered in the admissions process, but for informational purposes only(to get any questions you may have answered in person)...but maybe they made an exception for you? If they did, that's pretty cool.

fur, anyone who spits gum on the street is a complete a-hole IMO whether or not you get caned.

andrea, i guess the content isn't evaluative, but if you actually take the time and initiative to request for and have an interview, that could leave a favorable impression?
