Class of 2012, TOP school & academic profile?

I’ve been out sick for 2 weeks, going on 3.
There’s no way my English teacher is dumb enough to give me a 0 for a turnitin.com assignment… when I have no clue what the login info is, because she told the class when I was at home barfing.
She’s not that stupid.

Right?

hey everyone!!
this looked like a fun thread to post on so here it goes haha:)
Live in California, white, female, attend the only public highschool in my town lol

I have gotten A’s in everything so far :)

NOTE: AP classes are only offered junior and senior year and we have very few AP classes available. i will also take AP psychology this summer since it is not offered at my school. all of these courses at my school are very rigorous and competetive (some teachers only give a certain number of students an A, a certain number a B, and so on)

ECs: Cal-HOSA (california health occupation students of America): founded the club my junior year and I am the President. So far, I have over 100 hours of volunteer work at the hospital. I put TONS of effort into this club and helping other people is a huge passion of mine

I was one of the five girls of my junior class to be nominated for Girls State and I interviewed for it. My friend got picked though :)

Test scores: as of now, very, very, very, VERY weak.
PSAT: 176
SAT: 1600… (i know this is really really bad, but i took it my soph year to just see what is was like. i didn’t study at all, and i had the flu really bad)
i can’t afford SAT school or SAT prep classes or anything like that…
i’ve been studying really hard and i will take it in may.
i have a good feeling that i will do much better on the ACT. i know that i can ace the science part.

i will take AP tests this may and the math 2 and biology subject tests after this semester.

my dream is to become a doctor, or nurse at the General Mass Hospital

i want to go to college on the east coast because that’s where my mom’s entire side of the family lives.
i really love Bowdoin College! it’s amazing, although i’m not sure if i could get in. test scores are optional, but won’t it hurt my chances if i don’t submit them??

well, even if i don’t get in, i could still easily go to one of the UC’s :)

@mandypandy: Have you thought about applying to USC?

Marine- we use turnitin too.
Tree saver!

Nice stats

I want to apply to a Cali school :(

Well, USC is a nice school and everything, but it’s literally in the ghetto. I’m not really a huge fan of LA. I really enjoy the outdoors and nature, so that’s why Bowdoin really interests me.

Mandy- don’t come to the east coast… ITS COLD.
Lol I’m trying to get out

@CPU: Do you like turnitin? I haven’t had a chance to use it yet. My friends in my English class say they like it.

@mandypandy: Oh, okay. I was just wondering, since you live in California.
USC is my #1 choice. Surely Bowdoin isn’t the only school you’re looking at though?

It’s nice, but I like having paper essays because then teachers can write comments… Now we get none at all.

Mandy- use Princeton review for your tests… I have about 8

Oh, what does turnitin do though?

Online submission of assignments. There’s a discussion board too, and a place to upload essays etc

AH… Turnitin. Lol.

MIT I hate it actually

I have a question guys- I’m only taking four classes next year… Is that bad???

9% “plagiarism” gets me a sexy 0.

^ Depends on what you’re taking… you should probably take more though.

If I could, I would only take 4 classes. Can’t, if I wanna get into college.

@marinebiosax: okay, so you don’t live in Cali right? If i get into UCLA, i will probably go there. i’m looking at pretty much all the UC’s and some other LAC’s on the east coast. the cold really doesn’t bug me that much. i live in the mountains and we get some snow. i know it doesn’t compare to the east coast… the people in california are mean, rude, and are horrible drivers. People on the east coast are much nicer. believe me. i actually went on a college tour at USC and no one was friendly towards me. They’re all competing with you. i guess they saw me as the “enemy” hahahaha. My best friend’s first choice is USC too! and i’m not saying that all people are like that here. definitely not. however, most people agree that east coasters are generally nicer than californians.

My teacher allows 20% because there are just common things you can’t avoid… Some girl got 80% but got a B -____-

Eh depends on what the classes are

They’re all APs. English, psych, physics, Calc.
There’s only bio/Chem left…
I hate those. What if they don’t fit in my schedule?? I’d most likely take Chem if my honors Chem teacher teaches it… But AP eng+psych = suicide. Even our teachers said it.
I might add Chem, but I don’t want to be overwhelmed.

@mandypandy: I don’t live in Cali, but I did at one point. I know exactly what you mean haha.
My aunt lives about 5 minutes away from USC, and I’m touring USC + either UCLA or Loyola Marymount during spring break. Not sure what to expect.

i guess i’ll sacrifice my mental health for another AP
