Class of 2012 USC hopefuls ..

ok guys i know this thread is a bit early but i thought the class of 2011 had their own official thread why can't we? we're doing applications now till jan...and from then on come acceptances, let's support each other, help each other and congratulate each other. we're all going through the same situation right now, why not help our fellow student hopefuls of class 2012?

i'll start first, i am currently going through my app and hopefully will have it in before the dec 10 deadline.....however i just got my first sitting of SAT scores and they were BAD. really really BAD. so i have to motivate myself on the retake in dec...would they still accept dec retakes?

I just attended a Meet USC reception today. T'was amazing and I'm motivated to get working on that application again.

I'm pretty sure they'll take Dec. retakes...

yes./randomtext/

forgottenhawk: working on the application again? why did you stop anyway? you went to USC? that's awesome..i wish i could...but i'm about 2 days away from the states to go visit it lol

I'm about to send my application out soon...probably in the next week. I'm visiting USC on the 20th!! can't wait.

lucky.........

Haha well its not like I work on college applications every day; I have schoolwork, family, extracurriculars, etc. to deal with. I haven't worked on college apps directly for like a week now. I need some time off of my essays anyway so I can spot flaws.

Nah, I didn't go down to USC, but I did last year for their open house. This time they came to me. :D

lucky........

About to turn in my app in like the next hour :)

I'm going for an interview on the 19th and the open house on the 18th. That will be my 2nd visit. April 1st is so far away :(

Yeah I'm debating whether or not I want to go down to their Open House for the second year in a row. I didn't even get to register last year because they only let seniors sign up, but apparently now juniors can too. -.-

THEAjay89- april 1st is forever away. but don't despair, if you're a strong applicant you'll hear at the end of january

is 35 act make me a strong candidate for trustee? i need it to be a trojan!!

thats a a great score, and if the rest of your application is as strong, yes.

If you want to have a shot at any scholarships do you basically have to have 1400+ SAT's and 4.0 GPA's?

more like 2100+ SAT ;-)

So they DO look at the writing? I know a lot of schools don't consider the writing.

i dunnoo...i hope not :P i could send my app in now..but still debating on my essays...

hello everyone...i'm in the class of 2011 at USC and perhaps I can answer a few questions for you all...

if you want scholarships at USC it really differs you can have a 1600 SAT score and get a $10,000 University Grant...and all you genius National Merit Scholars can get the dean's scholarship, which is pretty much a full ride...a friend of mine received the dean's scholarship but decided to go to Stanford instead

GPA's are really kind of subjective you can have a 4.8 and get rejected and someone could have a 3.8 and get in..it all depends on your EC's, Essay, and recommendations (one of my Honors teachers in HS was a USC alumni and wrote mine)

your essays are also really important..DO NOT write what you think they want to read...write about yourself and tell the truth..be Real & Original!!

lastly if you live in CA or really want to go to USC schedule an interview..there should be a few slots open.. I had an interview and I think it really helped me get in and I thought it was fun

good luck on your applications and if you have any questions or need help just send me a message

National Merit finalists (who name USC as their first choice) receive the "Presidential" scholarship of half tuition.

"Trustee" is the full tuition scholarship.

"Deans" is a one-quarter scholarship.

so essays are more important than grades?
