I think the big things is that you have to have decent grades, but essays can seriously impact your chances of getting in.

wow now that is really scary haha

Isn't that basically the case at almost every school except for the grade-driven state schools?

Grades get you to the door, other factors push you through.

That's good...my stats are just mediocore so there's noway I'd get scholarship based on that. I have good everything else though.

just that since this whole "it relies on your essay* type of thing is surfacing right now.....i have no idea if my essay is good enough anymore...i mean...i used to think it was good...everybody else thought it was good...but i'm i'm being paranoid if it's good enough for the extra push

I live in San Diego...is it expected that I have an interview?
If I do have one...when do I have to have it by? (I am submitting my application for the Dec 10 deadline, if that matters) And do you know if I can have it with an alumni in San Diego?
haha, sorry for all the questions

If you haven't signed up for an interview yet and you live in San Diego there aren't any more interviews available to my knowledge. If you had signed up earlier then yeah you could probably get it with an alumnus or alumna in SD.

I signed up for my interview around a month or two ago so I'm excited for it. I also sent my application in last month. I'm totally a '12 USC hopeful.

FUCLA

:)

I live in Texas, am I expected to sign up for an interview? Do they have them in other states?

No one is "expected" to sign up I think. They have them all throughout the United States, but again, they're pretty much full at this point I think.

I visited the campus yesterday and USC moved up a few spots on my list =]

Just one question: Why is everyone at USC really really extremely good looking?

I realized that as well. Its really ridiculous. Being on campus really satisfied my superficial side. Lol.

Maybe it's because it's Los Angeles?

Nickel Xenon- lol...thats exactly what my mom said when I told her

NorCal is still better. =P

Yay for repping NorCal. :D

But I guess...USC is close in proximity to Hollywood, which is filled with stars. There might be a correlation there. You never know.

hey forgottenhawk- what HS do you go to?

NorCal IS better :)

I hope I get some sort of scholarship... crosses fingers

Also, does it really make that big of a difference whether or not I decide to sign up for an interview? I mean, as long as we're not borderline applicants, it shouldn't really hurt our application, yes?

yousonofatree- I'll send you the name of my school in a PM. ;D I'm in the East Bay.

Yeah they say specifically an interview can only help you. I signed up for one because I want to have every positive factor I can get in the application process and because I'm really passionate about the school.

Is USC everyone's first choice? It's my third.

Hahaha no. It's kind of far down on my list, as far as the privates go. I still like the school though! I'm not sure if I want an interview... I don't know all that much about USC xD
