Class of 2013 Results: Celebrate, Discuss, Support Here

I think some schools provide lists to other schools, but there’s no national system to find out who got in ED where.

My daughter was accepted to Gettysburg College under early decision.
I think they are one of the few that give aid packages with their
acceptances.

I get it, I get it, I get it … I now know the difference between ED and EA … now lighten up … jeeezzzz I am sorry I even came on this site … I came here to find out a few things and instead get you guys on my case like I am in gross violation of some code of ethics …

I am the one who wanted Notre Dame, not him. He has maintained that he wants/wanted W&M the entire time. We are not waiting for Notre Dame or any other of the 8 schools he applied for, so enough already!!! I know what a binding agreement is when it comes to an ED that was well explained, ad nauseum I might add, and quite hatefully from a few of you! I am not a complete moron! He is withdrawing all his other applications, we are sending in his W&M BINDING ED Response with the accompanying non refundable payment. I hope that makes a couple of you zealots, with your knickers in a twist over my inadvertent mistake in understanding acronyms, a little happier.

Many of you have gone through this process before and know all the acronyms and lingo of the application process. I am not special ed, so some simple explanations instead of biting my head off with such vehemence and quoting the W&M’s policy would have been a wee bit nicer than the aggressive stance of some.

He’s not going to get revoked and I am not worried about any roving reps looking for my son’s name in their ED rooster. I made a simple mistake understanding the verbiage and processes of ED and EA that’s all it was!!! I won’t be recommending this site to any of my friends who are looking for help or have questions unless they are prepared to defend themselves or be talked down to.

Some of you are down right witches! So a big Buh-bye! to the haters!!

Well, I think this started out as a thread to celebrate, discuss and support the class of 2013, so let’s return to our regularly scheduled programming. It looks like several of us got our High Point EA answers today–a shout out to hobie1’s S and mamagym’s D (and my own little chintzygirl). Congratulations!

debbs,

In post #41 you wrote “We will sign W&M unless Notre Dame gives us a letter of intent by the 12th”

In post #43 you wrote “don’t you think getting into Notre Dame would be a reason to have pause on signing the ED?”

That’s what made me think you were trying to game the system. I do apologize for my tone, and I hope you and your son are happy with the college choice you make. I wish you luck, and I mean that sincerely.

:)

debbs,
Try to see it from the other side-- Many of us politely and gently explained the policies and the difference between EA and ED, but to us (well, speaking for myself of course) the responses in posts #30, 41 and 43 do sound like you are trying to game the system-- to play the $$ game when it isnt permitted under ED. To those of us who have seen this happen year in and year out, these posts looked like another one of those, and it can evoke strong reaction.

Good luck to your son. And by the way-- Social Security almost always denies disability to applicants the first go round. It oftentimes takes one or 2 appeals to get it through. Your H shouldnt give up on that one, and when he does get it (and sounds like he should qualify, depending on the severity of his cognitive deficits) the $$ is retroactive to the day he first applied. Make sure he gets a good neuropsychological evaluation!

On a lighter note, I wanted to share my family’s great news. Our daughter got her “likely letter” from Lehigh and we are so thrilled because she fell in love with Lehigh at first sight. I am so happy for her. I haven’t visited yet but my contact with the coach tells me that this is a college that will take very good care of my little girl…very kind and professional from the start. I only wish I could go too! Her Chanukah gift this year is a nice, warm down coat. She’s going to need it! Best of luck to all of you! I hope all of your sons and daughters holiday wishes come true.

Congrats, jklein!!!

Thanks for the congrats!

D got her first acceptance from Caltech (EA)
today. We are so happy to be relieved. kuddos to D for her hard work. Good luck to all.
Happy Holidays

My S is a student at a large public school in NJ. He applied ED1 to Vassar. Alot of the kids at his HS are getting ED results, so I called Vassar today They said, “their target date for mailing decisions is Dec. 15”. Doesn’t this seem later then it should be. We are at an all-time high for angst here!

Mindy - vent away here on the board - it’s healthier here than in front of the kids - Williams and Amherst up here in New England are on a similar schedule (15th) - must be an LAC thing. Reminds me of the old Paul Masson jug wine TV commercial…we will sell no wine before its time… Hang in there!

Ha, thank you I wished I found this board earlier. Do you mean that the other NE schools are not mailing until Dec 15th-cause that means another week…My friend said her son is supposed to hear from Amherst by the 15th. Just wanted to be sure, cause I am practically accousting my mailman-will have to give a really nice tip this year!

I read that Amherst is supposed to mail tomorrow the 12th. Not sure on Williams. Davidson College will post online on Saturday the 13th, having promised notification by the 15th. Just a guess, but I imagine unless Admissions Committees are working this weekend, a good number of letters will hit the post office tomorrow. Hug a letter carrier!

I was accepted to University of Vermont(my second choice!) and Quinnipiac already, and Im waiting to hear back from Lehigh this weekend. It definitely relaxes you a little senior year to know you have at least one place you can go next year.

I’ve been accepted by Tulane and LSU so far.

Applied to Washington and Lee and getting the money to apply to a few others soon.

My son was accepted at The Univeristy of Alabama in Tuscaloosa and also at The Univeristy of Alabama in B’ham. He received the Presidential scholarship from Univ of AL Tuscaloosa which is full tuition with a guaranteee to increase scholarship if tuition rises, and he received $8,000 towards tuition and additional $4,000/year housing allowance at the Univ. of AL B’ham. Boht of these were merit awards based on ACT/SAT scores and GPA.

To clarify at Univ of AL B’ham it was $8,000/year towards tuition for 4 years.

My son was accepted to Carleton College. We are thrilled, excited, relieved, a little bit shocked (also glad not to have to continue with the ten other applications–second time we’ve been through the process and my older child didn’t apply anywhere ED).

My d is in at Carleton, too. I’m especially pleased since we’ll be on the same reunion cycle:)
