and duke99 are u really considering Duke???

yeah, im definately going for the SATs. I just dont know when to register for it, and what happens next! Im searching hard for colleges and preferably IOWA, so any suggestions are welcome!!

@puspa
If i get FUNKTASTIC grades…even if i get the grades it’s still not sure

that was for ED
if i don’t do ED i’m gonna give it a shot in RD

all the best to duke99!!!

how many of you have finished your essays (the drafts let’s say, it’s editing and much more before you get the masterpiece) ? how many have you all written so far? i’ve just got to 2 but the essays are jhoorpatyans. i’m not getting the topics right…

hey thanx puspa

@stag: I haven’t finished the commonapp one yet.
What to write about is turning out to be the most difficult and annoying part of the whole essay-writing process.

@CC
then have u finished the supplement?? where you EDing to anyway?

I’m still looking for a place to ED. It’s like I change my mind about it every week.

help help!!!i know that for the ED program we apply during december and the college sends us result by mid jan…but one thing is still in confusion!! should we get involved in the ED program during senior year of the high school or after we’ve completed our high schools???this thing is really killing me…

i mean that ill be graduating out of high school on june-july of 2010 …so if i want to ED in one of the colleges then do i get to get involved in the ED program of 2009 or 2010???

i also read it sumwhere that “Last year 200 students elected to apply Early Decision to Colgate”…what means elected to apply???

@Pushpa kamal,

No, we don’t apply for the ED(Early Decision)/EA(Early Action) or SCEA(Single Choice Early Action) around december. Most colleges have Nov 1/Nov 15 as the deadline for applying EA/ED. As for SCEA, the deadline is Nov 1, and Stanford and Yale are the only universities that offer SCEA. And you get the decision within December of that year.

To make it more clear,
Suppose that you decided to apply under the ED program of a certain school for the class of 2014, then you must submit the online portion of your application no later than Nov1/Nov 15,2009. The stuffs such as TE, Recos, attested Transcripts, scores etc. must be postmarked within that date(Nov1/Nov 15). Since you will not have your Transcripts until you complete your grade 12, you must send the provisional mark-sheet of grade 11 as well as the internal test scores(mid-term examination…Or whatever) of grade 12.
You will receive your decision(accepted or denied or deferred) before Jan 1 (usually mid- December). If you are accepted and the Financial aid is enough, you must enroll to that respective college to which you had applied ED. As for EA and SCEA, you need not enroll immediately and can wait until May 1,2010 to compare other options.

Whether you get accepted ED or RD, you will be matriculating around August/September 2010.

So, my advice to you is :
a) Apply for the class of 2014 only if u can manage time and if you are sure about graduating on or before August 2010. Most I Sc students waste a year because they don’t get their results until August/September (sometimes it is delayed even longer).

b) You need to do a lot of research about the US schools before applying (you seem so naive!)

btw,do u mind telling me which college are u from? (you can PM me)

First, stop panicking, will you?
Fuego already pointed out that the deadlines are usually eariler so check into respective colleges for their deadlines.
If you’re applying in your senior year and then planning to go to college straight after the senior year then how do you hope to get involved with ED after graduating from high school.
Well if you’re applying for the class of 2014 then how can yoy get “involved” with ED program 2010?
elected to = decided to meaning 200 applicants applied to Colgate under the ED program
I concur with fuego’s opinion and what he said about I.Sc. students even applies to the +2 students.

Finally, you may apply to class of 2014 if you want to but it is also perfectly normal to wait for the next year and then apply(In your case that would be class of 2015).

@Pushpa Kamal,
I forgot to mention ED2. If you don’t get accepted ED, you can always apply ED2. For most of the colleges, the ED2 deadline is the same as RD.

@Duke99
Wait, I think we have a clash. I am seriously considering Duke for my ED!(not sure though)

oh no…a clash…!

i’m not sure too (waiting for grades).

thnks guys…ur suggestions helped me a lot…ive decided that ill wait for the next year…i will apply for the Class of 2015…i think ill have good time to work hard on my SATs, extracurricullars and all…i am sure i wont be able to manage time for class of 2014 now…and yes im from Goldengate Int’l College

stuffs such as TE???what means TE???

^One last thing. Though you have decided to apply next year, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to take SAT I this year.

hello class of 2014 from Nepal!!
