I really hope they will increase this incoming class (2014), according to the Tech’s article, they will.
Let’s keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best!

Does anyone have any last minute suggestions of anything to do that might help turn a waitlist spot into an acceptance? I really want to go to MIT and I would defiantly go if accepted and give up my spot at Ga Tech. Has anyone heard anything since Wednesday? The wait is killing me, and I know I am sooo close to getting into my dream school. Good luck to everyone on the waitlist!

just so everyone knows… the increase on class size was a mistake. The Tech rescinded their previous number in the article. They are shooting for around 1070 like normal.

natelotof: I think its probably a little too late because they are reviewing the applications now. Anything you send in will probably not get reviewed.

so has anybody been accepted off the waitlist yet?

I’ve been waitlisted at Princeton and apparently they’ve started to accept some off their waitlist…

Not that I am aware of. The last I’ve heard from MIT is the e-mail on Wednesday saying they are going to use the waitlist. I am hoping they notify this week so I can know before I graduate.

So nobody has gotten in still?

One of the admissions officers tells me its around the 15th we’ll know. Anytime between the 12 through the 17th, on a rolling basis. Probably a letter, maybe a call or email?

Good luck y’all!!!

Looks like the yield was around 64% ([Around 64 percent of admitted students choose MIT - The Tech](http://tech.mit.edu/V130/N26/enrollment2014.html)). Should be ~30 people they need off the waitlist then?

I would say between 35 and 40 students. Hopefully more then that!
If the class of 2014 target is 1070 and if they admitted 1611 with a yield of 64%, then the number to be taken off of the wait list to reach the class target would be around 38.96 which is close to 40. Being optimistic may be they take more people in order to plan for the summer melt. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!

Has anyone heard yet? And if we do get in, do we hear by email? Mail? Phone call?

According to MIT blog from last year - 2009, MIT released waitlist results on the 15th of May at the end of the day, around 5:00 PM. I also did a search on CC and noticed that in 2008 they released results on the 20th of May. I just hope and pray that they will contact the students before the weekend because i don’t know how much I can wait. Every time I think about MIT waitlist, I eat a big cookie. Well, I am eating a lot of cookies lately.
Good luck!!!

I have been checking my email every minute for the last week! I graduate Sat. and it would be nice to know where Im going to school. Good Luck to all of you!

Just got the email! Good luck to all still waiting!

She just got the email. My Daugther GOT IN!!! SO HAPPY FOR HER!!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!

Congrats to you and your daughter!! Can you tell us what she did to get in?

Congrats to those who got in!!! I have still not heard anything…

Congrats to those who were accepted off of the waitlist today!

If an applicant hasn’t heard from us at this point via email, we’re still considering him/her, and we’ll contact them shortly with an update.

@MITChris
If we have not heard does that mean we still have a chance at being admitted in the first round or has everyone who is going to be admitted been notified?

@abcabc12345 She worked really hard on her crazy hard courses. Her junior/senior classes were insane: Calculus BC AP. Physics C AP, Biology AP, English Literature AP, Spanish AP, Micro Economics AP, Micro Economics AP, Chemistry AP, English language AP, Calculus AB AP, Spanish IV honors. So first she concentrated on academics, all really good grades. Her school is very competitive, she studies like 4 to 5 hours a day, everyday, and although the GPAs are lower then other schools around us, the AP scores and SAT are high. She is not a good test taker, so her SAT is not that great, like 2080. She is a AP scholar with distinction. She is totally involved with her church and she is really committed to help others, she really spends a lot of time helping kids all over the word, I mean Singapure, Mexico, Brazil, Haiti and so forth. Also she is an all star athlete. really top of our state in her sport. The only thing it was not going too well for her was the SAT/ACT test scores (2080). i think admissions were able to see how she could manage studying at the airports, planes and so forth because she is moving, on the go.
She is so in tune with the world. She will be that person at MIT that will get good grades but she will shake the institute. She will do stuff, she will get involved and I really think that MIT saw that on her. She will shake that class, be very active and make a difference in the MIT 2014 class. She is also very international, she is hispanic, but lived in different countries so she has a very good international focus and view. I respect MIT admissions because she is not like a cookie cutter. The only application she really worked on was for MIT. I got really mad at her because she took a huge risk. But, she knew what she was doing regardless my worries. Also she was not shy in updating MIT about every award and grades she got during the process. She updated MIT via letter to admissions. She just sent to the general admissions address. But i am telling you, she was not shy in sending them updates. That is all. GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!!
