Check your email. If you were accepted, you were accepted in the first round. If you were not accepted, you should’ve just received an email from McGreggor Crowley informing you of next steps.

I just got in! Thank youuuuu! <3

Yay still waiting…there’s no way I’m getting in…

MITChris are you also an admissions officer?

I’m sorry if that sounded rude.

wait. so everyone who didn’t get accepted first round is still in the game right?

^ I’m wondering about that too… So will they immediately notify you even if you’re
not accepted?

I wonder how many people are opting out in this round…

I was told by an admissions officer that no one was rejected. If you were not accepted tonight you still have a chance next week.

Yes, I am an admissions officer.

You should have received one of two emails today. Either this email said you were accepted, or it said you have been pushed back to a second round.

If you didn’t receive either email, check your junk mail; if it got filtered to junk, let me know.

Thank you MIT :O)

Does anyone know how many students were accepted to the first round of the waiting list?

MITChris,

My son got the following mail from Paul Anthony McGreggor Crowley.
What is the meaning of it? Is my son pushed to second round? What are the chances in second round?

“We will keep your name on the list. Should you need anything, or further clarification, don’t hesitate to contact me.”

Thanks

Have a relaxing weekend, Anurag.

I would also love to know how many people were accepted in the first round. And how many rounds will there be total?

^I’m not Chris, but in past years, the number of rounds have been completely contingent on how many admits from the first round accepted their spots. They will go to the waitlist until they fill the number of spots they want to fill.

Didn’t get in the first round which is probably when they admit most students. Oh well. :(

Dang, then there were only two people on this thread who got accepted in the first round?! I’d expect a few more… especially if they’re planning on taking 30+ total
Oh well, I guess I’ll keep hoping haha

two girls from my school were accepted off the waitlist a few days ago

Another girl from my school and I both got in.

Congrats to all of you, although that makes me sad haha
Are those people accepting the offers?
I just hope I can get some closure soon, even if an acceptance would be much preferred…

A question to MITChris:

What is the male/female ratio of class 2014 in just Engineering? I know the overall ratio is close to 50/50, though. Is it like Cal Tech that classes are full of one gender? Thanks in advance!

^ The information you’re looking for is readily available on the MIT website here: [Enrollment Statistics: MIT Office of the Registrar](<a href=“Statistics & Reports | MIT Registrar”>Statistics & Reports | MIT Registrar).

Of course, the class of 2014 has not yet enrolled, nor has anyone in the class declared a major, so your specific question is impossible to answer. But as you can see, there are definitely women majoring in engineering, physics, etc.
