so my friend just called smith to ask how to access the decision and the receptionist told HER decisions weren’t going up until the 15th.

one of these receptionists made a mistake.

:(

I just got an email.

Dear ________________,

Thank you for your application to Smith College. We will mail all admission decisions on
Wednesday, December 15. If you would like to receive your decision electronically, you
can log into BannerWeb, our online records system, after 6:00 p.m. EST that day.
…

I haven’t slept for 3 days. I’m not joking.

wow, this sucks so much.

:(
and they titled the email “admissions decision online”.

haha, ikr. i saw it and though “oh, they are going to be up today” and then i read the email and was like :(

asdkfladskjf i agree this sucks so so much i’ve been dying all week ugh ugh ugh!

my daughter just called and told me. she’s okay with it. I’m not.

@wanton You should get some sleep!

Hang in there. Wednesday is not far away. Try to do something relaxing this weekend, and non-college app related

yeah this sucks…
another five excruciating days… >.<

5 days is a ridiculously long period of time.

I know it seems that way, but really it’s not so bad. Think about the people that were ahead of you. When I got accepted, in 2005, they didn’t even post decisions on line yet. They had bannerweb, where you could check your application status, but they did not say on bannerweb if you were accepted or not. So when decisions were mailed, since I lived on the other side of the country, I had to wait to get my packet by snail mail. I didn’t receive it until the last day of winter semester.

I know it’s disappointing, but try to remain patient and get some perspective. Five days will go by in the blink of an eye. Worrying about it isn’t going to make the time go faster or change a decision in any way. Deep breaths.

Last year with our son who was accepted ED at Pomona College in Claremont, CA it was snail mail too. I can’t believe a college as elite as Pomona is still sending out decisions via reg. mail. We are in rural KS and people in NY got their decision before our son did. Anyway, my point is some colleges just still do it the old way and we are probably fortunate that Smith is at least putting the decisions on the bannerweb on Wed. Another POV my older daughter who goes to Princeton---- she hated getting her decision online. She said having to log in was torture she would have much rather seen a big envelope or a small envelope. And yes, I know I brag about my kids a lot. I can’t help it. I think they are absolutely fabulous!

The closer we come to Wednesday, the more I am sure I am not going to get in. Is it possible to get rejected from ED or only deferred?

You can be rejected or deferred. It is nerve wracking… waiting that is. I’m trying to mentally prepare myself in case I don’t get in. There’s no place quite like Smith and ever since my first interview, I’ve been fascinated with the college. I hope each and every one of you gets in!

I’m really nervous as well! I hope we all get in!! If we did we would be classmates which is a pretty cool thought lol!

you can get rejected completely or deferred to the regular decision pool, in which case, you would find out in March.

Awww I just can’t focus on any other essays now! I just keep hoping that I get accepted… >.<
If I don’t, then I’m screwed cuz a lot of application deadlines are just half a month away!!
I just hope Smith doesn’t reject/defer me because I applied for too much financial aid as an international student…
Anybody wanna facebook me? Priscilla Liu.
I live in Mainland China, so I have to use a proxy to get on facebook. (have to go through some trouble lol)
