My son got into Rose-Hulman. No word on financial aid. Does anyone know what the likelihood is of my son getting merit or need-based aid there? He’s above all their stats, probably near the top of their applicant pool. I’m glad he’s in because it suits his interests, but I’m wondering what the likelihood is of them giving him the money he needs.

From Nor Cal, D accepted Syracuse

Fordham University-Gabelli School of Business. Got the letter today.
Still waiting on Bing and Buffalo.

Rejection letters are now called denied notice…soon to be referred to as rerouting memos, quickly followed by, “No really, sweetie; it’s us not you. YOU are perfect, and we will certainly regret rejecting you in the years to come.” Let’s ask our high schools to report stats ten years out. Where the kids went to college, grad school, technical school…and what happened NEXT? My electrician has a 45 foot sailboat in the Long Island sound that we’ll never have. Not saying kids are ‘entitled’ to be happy, but I’m trying to pull back on the helicoptering…

DS got accepted to Ithaca. 1 down 8 to go.

Congrats on all the acceptances!

D just received an acceptance to University of Redlands. The Dean added a handwritten note to the bottom of the letter, referencing her essay, so that was a nice personal touch. The letter also says she’s been recognized with an Achievement Award and designated as a Presidential Scholar, but no mention of what that means for merit $. Hope to hear back from their scholarship folks soon so D can start weighing options!

When D received acceptance to Whittier, they also stated their generous merit award, so that was really nice to know right away. These are D’s top two schools, where she feels she will fit in best, so it’s exciting to have the acceptances in hand. :)

We have a friend who’s an athlete at Redlands (a junior) and has had a fantastic experience there. Here in L.A., Redlands is considered a stronger school academically than Whittier. We know a number of adult alums from there, and it’s a strong community.

Congratulations!!

D in at SUNY New Paltz!

Researching4emb - thank you for the feedback re: Redlands and Whittier! Looking forward to hearing good news about Clark next week! :)

Congrats Pizzagirl and all. My eldest was WL at Wellesley last year and admitted at Bryn Mawr but ended up at NU (It is Northwestern) which she loves. The youngest was just deferred at University of Chicago. So it begins again…

D accepted at Georgetown and U Chicago. She is waiting to hear back from a few more schools in spring before she makes her final decision.

I’ve been accepted into Mills College and University of San Francisco so far. I know they’re not Ivies but USF is my first choice, so I’m really excited.

Congrats, thuydebird! Don’t let all the prestige-school announcements dim your pride. Your success is wonderful.

Clark must have been overwhelmed with EA applicants (apparently they used to do ED and switched to non-binding EA this year), because they did not send out letters on Monday as promised. They notified by e-mail this morning. D is accepted and thrilled! No letter and no word on merit aid until January, but she’s got her first acceptance and has that huge relief that come what may, she has a good college home next fall!

Great news! Congrats Dandemom, thuydeebird and researching4emb!

Hi:) Daughter accepted to her dream school Penn State. Still waiting back from a few others.

Son has been accepted to several schools including his top choice. We are still awaiting many decisions in th Spring, however it is a relief to have a few safeties and most likelies done. Thank you CC parents for all of the discussion about selecting a variety of schools and the wisdom to get many done early. It makes for a nice holiday without all applications done and just scholarship essays to focus on.

As your kids auditions are winding down and applications are in, I just want to say congratulations to such hard work and hope you are rewarded with some great choices. My D is from the class of 2013 at Wagner college. This is the hardest time for you all… Waiting. If anyone would like info about Wagner, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Email works best, but occasionally I check back to CC. Break a leg!!!

I didn’t see this thread until today. A week ago DD was accepted ED by Duke. Go Blue Devils.

Son was accepted by U. of Minnesota, U of Illinois, U of Wisconsin-Madison and deferred by U of Chicago. Four down and six to go. Merry Christmas and good luck everyone!
