Congrats sherpa!!!

Hello, All! I look forward to learning from all of you. My daughter has been accepted EA to Kalamazoo & Seattle U. (her mom’s alma mater), and we have another 6 RD to go. I am humbled by the generosity K has granted to D – (We discovered that school in Loren Pope’s “Colleges that Change Lives.”) It may be Christmas break for most of our household, but D is busy on a book report and has some final drafts of college essays to complete. I just want her to enjoy some of her winter break before her last hs semester begins. What a terrific forum this is!

Hello Everyone,

My son has been accepted to Penn State & Purdue University. He was deferred from his dream school, University of Michigan :(. He is still waitng to hear from Boston University,RD.
He only applied to 4 schools. It seems like most people on here apply to many more than that.

Any body on here have any thoughts, or experience with PSU & Purdue?

Congrats to all who were accepted. Good luck to those who were deferred and those that are still waiting to hear.

I’ve been accepted to Tulane University with $22,000 a year, and UMass-Amherst in-state. It feels incredible to know for sure that at least I’m going somewhere!
Happy New Year everyone!

Congratulations, Eugepae018! It’s always good thing to know that you have a place to call home for the next four years.

Got a letter this morning from one of my EA schools I applied to. It was in a big envelope. ;)

I have been accepted to University of the Pacific, EA.

And it came with a $6300 merit scholarship! Though I just checked Univ. of the Pacific’s yearly tuition, and dang, its high. O.o

This makes 4 schools that have accepted me so far. (All are safeties though :P)

@eugepae018: Congrats! I got deferred from Tulane EA, so it was somewhat of a bummer. Oh well, I have a second chance in the Regular Decision round. =)

Congrats to WillDaSnail! That’s wonderful news.

D2 finished her final app tonight! Now it’s time to wait for endless months…

Got accepted to:
the George Washington University- haven’t received my FA package, but from collegedata and other resources I’m thinking around 40k? I find out within the next month ://

Northern Arizona University- Honors Program with Presidential Scholarship.

Yet I’m still waiting for: American Uni and University of Denver

But GWU is definitely by first choice :)

daughter accepted to Cornell engineering ED, University of Michigan EA, but deferred at Notre Dame. Of course she’s going to Cornell because it’s binding. However, what’s the deal with ND??? I thought that was her strongest application and it was a strong 2nd choice, so she put a lot of effort into the application.

ND doesn’t want to be anyone’s second choice, strong or no. It’s a cult of true believers. She shouldn’t feel bad about not getting into ND-- it turns away top students by the truckload. Congratulations on her tremendous success into getting into Cornell engineering!

It’s sure nice to end the year with good news. Son was accepted EA to Willamette, Lewis and Clark, Colorado School of Mines and Colorado College. Now we have a long wait for two more RD and the decision making begins.

Yesterday d got her acceptance to University of Denver and also sent her last application in. So far, she has been accepted to Lynchburg College (won’t attend), University of Alabama, Birmingham-Southern, Millsaps, University of Tulsa, Agnes Scott and U. of Denver. She also has a deferral to U. of Chicago, where she is a double legacy (both parents) but not where we think she should go. She is awaiting two more schools that are RD and announce in mid March.

2calmom–like how your son applied to those EA to those four schools like that. The hard part is behind you. With two RD to go, you know you have options.

MilitaryMom–have read great things about Lynchburg, Birmingham-Southern, Millsaps & Agnes Scott. Lot’s of nice choices!

My S2 applied to Ole Miss (rolling) and EA to Elon, U of Georgia, Santa Clara, and UNC. The news has all been good so far! He was accepted to the first four, and is waiting for the decision from UNC. He also applied RD to some of the UCs. He received merit scholarship offers from the four he was accepted to, so they are all viable options. I have NO idea what his final decision will be. We have not visited Elon or Ole Miss yet. He applied to the Honors College at Ole Miss, which is his draw to that school. Once he gets that decision, we will visit Elon and OM (if he’s accepted to the HC).
My gut feeling as his mom? Elon seems like the perfect fit for him, and I’m eager to see if that holds true once we have visited.

D accepted to UVM (in state) and University of Denver with a $10 K a year merit award.

Still more apps out there and FAFSA to file but it will be interesting to compare these two a bit more. Any thoughts?

Our household is submitting the FAFSA today. Git er done!

How was your daughter able to apply ED to Cornell and Notre Dame. I thought you were only allowed to apply to 1 school ED?

^She did only apply ED to one school. The other two were rolling or EA.

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Thank you for the clarification.
