Class Of 2015

My audition has been received but My major of interest changed from MT to BFA Acting…
Anyone have this as well?

Where do you see your major of interest on myithaca? The thing confuses me :/

Its under the “what we have received” column.
It took me awhile to find it too! haha

Ooh, thanks! Wow. I feel kind of dumb. haha. And from what I understand is that if they switched it, you were probably accepted to BFA Acting. (I believe that is how it worked out last year, from what I’ve read on here.) If so, CONGRATULATIONS! :)

Hmmm. My S still has “WHAT WE STILL NEED - Audition” and “WHAT WE HAVE RECEIVED: Major of Interest: H&S - Musical Theater, BFA”. “H&S” being The School of Humanities and Sciences (H&S) at Ithaca College. Does this really mean anything?

If “audition” is under “what we still need” it means the theatre dept has not made a decision yet.

Yes, that’s correct. MTBoy has been accepted to BFA Acting not MT. Congrats. If your major changes after Audition has been accepted that’s what you be accepted to for Ithaca.

Looks like notification comes in many different ways…so, if your audition has moved into the received but your major hasn’t changed; it really means nothing…you just need to wait for something in the mail firstt and then MyIthaca gets updated? And the letter tends to come about a week after the audition results move into the received column?

Some people’s “Audition” status moved to “received” over a week ago. If letters are received approx. 1 week after that change, some people should be hearing in the next day or two. I am starting to get a sinking feeling that “audition” status moving is probably happening this week for the kids that are being accepted, and that my D having her audition status still in the “needs to be received” box is not a good thing right now. But I don’t have any idea – all we can do is wait.

I’m still on the “What We Still Need Side”. Let’s cross our fingers and hope that’s not a bad thing. I auditioned at the Chicago Unifieds.
I’m tired of frantic runs to the mailbox. Haha. :]

my major of interest says H&S- Musical Theater BFA

does this mean ive been accepted or they just know that I have applied as a Musical Theater BFA??

kasietheactress-

This only means you applied for Musical Theater. If you applied for MT and it changed to BFA in Acting then that would mean you were accepted into that program. You will know soon enough. In the next few weeks. Good luck!

So “not received” mean the theater dept has not sent you to admissions? Well, that doesn’t sound good does it? I’m getting depressed here.

Just called admissions.
I have, in fact, been accepted for BFA Acting!!

Flossy - I’m pretty sure it just means they haven’t made a decision yet. I would think that they would send everyone’s results to admissions even those who were rejected. Time can only tell.

Congrats MTBoy!!!

I wonder if anyone can explain whether or not those who are admitted as BFA Acting who had applied for BFA MT are therefore denied acceptance into the MT program and have been admitted BFA Acting as an alternative offer.

Congrats MTBoy! :)

MTPOPS, when you audition to Ithaca for a BFA in MT, you have the chance to fill out a form asking if you would be willing to be considered for a BFA in Acting. If you say yes, and are not admitted for the BFA in MT, they may consider you for acting, and possibly offer an acceptance. I know two kids from our area (one who is a recent grad and one who is a sophomore now at Ithaca) who auditioned for MT but were offered Acting and chose to attend for Acting. They were able to be in musicals and to take private voice and still take dance. An applicant can fill out “no” on the form and if not accepted for MT, then they are simply rejected. Keep in mind that all who are not offered MT are not then offered Acting by any means. The acting program at Ithaca is quite competitive in its own right, unlike perhaps at some schools that have a BFA in MT whereby the BFA in Acting program isn’t as competitive of a program.

And just in case I read your question erroneously…

If you apply for MT at Ithaca and are offered Acting, you are not also offered MT. You’ll only be offered one or the other.
