Class of 2016 Acceptance?

Did anyone get accepted into Cal State Fullerton yet?

Applications are still being accepted, so not likely that any decisions will be made until December or January. :)

I got accepted as an upper division transfer. I was surprised to get notified so early since the application period is still open and I go to an out of area ccc. (but as a psych major. I just realized this was a music theater thread)

Congrats on your acceptance! Hope you’ll come to see the great shows we put on in the Theatre and Dance Dept. - student discount applies!! :)

I created an account on the CSUF portal on Friday (11/18), and it said that I was accepted! I received an official letter from CSUF and the Honors Program in the mail the next day. I am quite honored and happy!

Just checked my account after a few weeks of not checking & I’ve been “admitted with distinction” for the BA theater arts program!!

So now I just send in my transcript with my 1st quarter grades & do the FAFSA right?

Hi, geofio! Congrats!!

There is no audition this year, so you will simply go through the admission requirements (sending transcripts on their timeline, sign up for a mandatory new student orientation on campus this summer, and sign up for the English and math placement exams).

For any financial aid consideration, fill out the FAFSA.

When you attend the mandatory New Student Orientation, you will tell the advisor that you are an MT student, and they will give you a list of appropriate courses in which you will have a permit waiting.

Hope that makes sense?

Yeah that makes sense! Thank you so much for your help!

Hi - my daughter just got her acceptance but it says BA Theater Arts. Will that qualify her to sign up for the Musical Theater track or does she need to do something else first?

Everyone comes into the school as a BA student. They declare BFA once they are admitted into the program “proper” (after end-of-sophomore-year juries).

At the mandatory New Student Orientation this summer, students choose MT as their emphasis, and are thus given a set of MT-preparatory coursework.

Great - thanks!

How many out of how many are admitted into the “program proper”? Thanks.

As many as would like to start as MT are taken into fresh year.

40-48 are advanced to soph level fall.

20-24 are advanced to soph level spring.

10-12 are taken into the BFA at end of soph year.

Does CSUF ever take a junior level transfer into the theatre BA program? Is it even possible to transfer/audition into the BFA program coming from CC credits? I am aware of the nature of BFA programs, moving a freshman class along at the same pace/same coursework, etc. and know most BFA programs will not accept a junior transfer, yet admitting them again as a freshman. thank you

You have to have the equivalent to our jury prerequisites to jury straight into the junior level. We take only 10-12 students in each year, so the competition at that jury is very high.

Jury prereqs:
3 semesters of acting (8 units)
2 semesters of voice and movement for the actor (4 units)
1 semester of script analysis (must be a class devoted to the literature analysis - not a component of an acting class, e.g.)

Jury for MT requires:
Must come to campus over three days in March (Sat-Mon). Saturday is your voice jury - four songs. Sunday is the dance jury: one hour tap, one hour jazz, one hour ballet (run like professional dance calls). Monday is the acting jury (a 3-minute contemporary scene with a partner of your supplying, OR a one-minute contemporary monologue).

Typo in my last post: Must come to campus over three days in MAY (Sat-Mon).

The dates this year are May 18-20, 2013.
