Class of 2017 PSAT Cut-Off

Hey, guys, I was just wondering if anyone knew how the cut-off for National Merit’s Scholarship was going to be decided for the PSAT scores that we’re about to receive.

My friends have been telling me different things like that it’ll be out of 1520 instead of 1600. I’ve also heard that the sum of the Reading+Writing/Math will not necessarily be what they’re looking for but the College Board will rather look at something called the Selection Index (I have no idea what that is exactly either)

Does anyone know what they’ll look at when deciding who will be a Semifinalist? Also, when will we know the cut-off score?

The PSAT scores are going to be out of 1520, that is correct. I am not sure about the selection index, and the cut-off score will probably be senior year for us as it has been in past years (I am not sure again about that)

According to blog.prepscholar.com, the PSAT cutoff will most likely be a 1440 and above–but that is just a really educated guess by the website.

its 1520…I got 1460 out of 1520 (guess it’s not bad)

reading and writing = 710/760
math = 750/760

Where did you see that 1440 cutoff? I’m seeing lower. What are most recent guesstimates for state cutoffs for the selection.index?

I was talking to my math teacher today and he said he thought it was going to be around 1400

This is pretty late but prep scholar has estimated cutoffs regarding your selection index for each state. I’m in Florida and it was a 199

Is prep scholar reliable? I’m in VA and I’m not sure if my 220 SI will cut it.
