Yes, I am international. Yea, I suppose you’re right. Cos none of the people applying from my school received a parent recommendation request either. Pheww*

Also, guys I emailed them last night asking about when and how we will receive the results. And they replied with this. “You should receive an email with all that information on January 22nd. The decisions will not be out until after 6:00 p.m. E.S.T. on the 23rd.” More anxiety!

Where have you all applied for regular decisions? Ive applied to MHC and Bryn Mawr.

No, I’m from the US. Maybe they only send them to RD applicants? Did anyone who applied ED2 get one?

I applied to MHC too! And Brandeis, Macalester, and a few other schools. Plus I was deferred from Wellesley ED1, but I’m pretty sure I’ll get rejected from there.

I wouldn’t know, I don’t know any Smith applicants irl.

I’ve applied to a ton of other schools. For women’s colleges, I also applied to Wellesley EE and Agnes Scott (was accepted). I applied to a really wide variety of schools. I have some huge schools such as the UCs, some large schools like Baylor, medium sized schools like Georgia Tech and Case Western, as well as smaller schools/LACs such as Carleton. In total I have 31 schools, of which 8 are UCs.

I didn’t apply anywhere ED1 and by time I realized that I really wanted to apply to Smith the only option I had was ED2 or Regular Decision and went with ED2 since it’s my top choice!

I applied ED2 after visiting Smith. I was planning on RD, because the binding agreement freaked me out a little, but once I got there and saw the campus it just felt like home! I had already missed ED1, so ED2 it was. I’m so nervous! Three days!

Awkward tacos. Am I like the only RD person on here?

I decided not to apply ED2 because scholarships are also a deciding factor. I want to compare all my scholarship money before deciding on a school. I also didn’t visit. I applied to a bunch of super safeties EA or they were rolling admissions, and got into those. Smith is among the group of #1s I have, though.

Pretty excited though, because Smith is apparently releasing RD decisions earlier than most of my other schools! :D

I applied RD as well. I didn’t apply ED anywhere for the same reason. I need to compare financial aid packages. I’d really like to go to Smith but I doubt that they’ll give me enough aid. Are they releasing RD decisions early? When are you expecting a letter?

Yes, I was on the Smith chat a couple of days ago and their admissions counselor said ED2 on the 23rd, and RD 3rd week of March.

Smith is my absolute priority but I decided to go ED2 cos otherwise I wouldn’t have been able to mention half the activities/accomplishments/results that I did. September till January is usually a pretty packed and busy time for Seniors, in terms of ECAs.

The aid comparison part is bothering me a bit now, though :S But hey, my only other colleges are MHC and Bryn Mawr. And I hear their financial aid calculations and availability don’t vary much. What do you guys think?

I also applied RD to Smith, Bryn Mawr, and Mount Holyoke! When I used the net price calculator, Smith came out the least expensive, followed by BMC and MHC. The differences were only a couple thousand; not enough to make financial aid a huge deciding factor

It is my understanding that there is no process or mechanism to appeal a rejection admission decision from Smith College. It would seem your best approach would be to attend another college and seek to transfer.
