Hello fellow sophomores! I thought I would create this thread for people to share their potential junior schedules… I know it’s early, but some of us will be picking soon and would like feedback! So feel free to leave your schedule and help others with their’s. I’ll start!
H Pre-Calculus
APUSH
H English III
Concert Band
H Spanish IV
Jazz Band
AP Chem or Physics
AP Chem of Physics
I’m taking H Chemistry this year, would it be better to take AP Chem next year or AP/H Physics?
So feel free to post your own schedules and questions!
I head someone comment on a similar situation a bit back that it might be smart to take AP Chem while it is still fresh in your head, and I think that is definatly something to think about. Not official, but I think (hope) my schedule is going to look like:
IB HL Math - 1
IB HL History - 1 (required by school ugh)
IB HL English - 1
IB SL Bio/Chem (one junior and one senior, depending on what they offer, going to take AP test)
IB SL French - 1 (going to try to take AP test at the end of year 2)
IB TOK - 1
IB EE/CAS - 1
Honors Gov’t (I don’t think most IB students take it at the AP level, but I need to find out about that and see what everyone else is doing)
Honors Econ (same as with gov’t)
Criminal Justice Operations 3
AP Capstone Seminar
AP English Language & Composition
Weight Training (S1)
Court Procedures (S2)
Probability & Statistics (Because I’d rather not take precalc where I’d most likely get an F)
AP US History
Physics 1 Honors
Wow everyone’s schedules look great, I think I need help coming up with mine. Anyways when do you guys start registering for your classes? I think I start registering for classes during February or March.
@TrainerGary I did mine in January last year, but I think it’s probably going to be later this year. They had started doing some people before break last year, but I haven’t heard of anyone doing it yet. My school seriously sucks at scheduling so they really need all the time they can get. Despite having done everything as early as possible, I still didn’t get in to my right classes until the later half of the first week, and that was after my mom annoyed the principal and everyone in guidance haha.
I wish I had open electives so bad! :((
I love my current electives, but they don’t give me the opportunity to add-on other classes.
-AP English 3
-APUSH
-Pre-AP/AP Chem (Might take an Exam for Acc.)
-AP Calc BC
-Symphony Orchestra
-A Capella Choir
-PLTW Computer Integrated Manufacturing
-French 2/3 online (It goes by semester, so I might take one during the Summer)
-AP Computer Science Principles Zero Hour (If my school offers it at that time.)
Homeschooler here, so mine will look weird, I think… or maybe not.
Duel Enrollment Freshman Comp 1, or maybe a cool history class, not sure yet.
H American History w/ Homeschool group(with CLEP test, hopefully)
H American Literature w/ Homeschool group (with CLEP test in Literature)
Chemistry
AP Psychology (1 semester)
H Philosophy (Homeschool group) (1 semester)
Russian 3 with Russian Literature w/ homeschool group
Pre-Calc (I’m a bit behind on this, had a traumatic brain injury, so I lost a year)
Drawing w/ homschool group (1 semester)
2D Design w/ homeschool group (1 semester)
H Music
Then whatever else interests me. I enjoy doing edx and coursera classes
I’m also a stage actor, and am Senior Editor of our Homeschool Group’s yearbook (I manage a team of 9)
I am an assistant trainer for a girls U10 travel soccer team.
AP Lang
APUSH
Precalc/Statistics (depends on what my Algebra II teacher recommends)
Chemistry
Honors Latin III
I need to decide an elective to take. I’m interested in history classes, but I need to take an arts/humanities/technology/etc. course to graduate, and I haven’t yet. I’m frustrated because while my school has standard, honors (which I’m taking), and AP bio, it only has standard and AP chemistry. I don’t think I should take AP, but I know it doesn’t look good to downgrade to an easier level.
I don’t know what AP classes you have available, so its hard to say what you should and shouldn’t take. What APs do you have in mind?
I know my school has AP Lang and Lit, so maybe you could take one of those instead of H English III. You could also take AP Spanish instead of H Spanish IV, if you feel comfortable with your skills.
I’d talk to your GC, or maybe even your teachers, to see what they recommend. Personally, I wouldn’t take over three APs as to not get overwhelmed, but if you think you can handle more, go for it!
@LeopardFire
Unfortunately, all AP Languages ( English included) are limited to Seniors.
My school offers most APs. I am not into art so those are out. I’ve take. AP US Gov which was really interesting and I enjoyed. Any other APs I don’t know a lot about and would appreciate assistance on what some classes are like. If you’ve taken any, what were they and what did you think of them?
I haven’t taken any myself (I’m starting my first next semester) so I can’t help you there. ^^’ I do know that my high school allows sophomores to take AP Bio, Gov, and Euro, so I’m guessing they are slightly easier than the rest. If you like history, maybe you can look into AP Euro.
@LeopardFire I find that very strange that AP Euro is taken as a sophomore as an “easy” AP… At most schools AP Euro is one of the most difficult APs, can anyone else verify this?
AP English Language
AP Calculus AB
AP Biology
AP US History
AP Spanish Language
AP Environmental Science or Statistics
Advanced Wind Ensemble/Marching Band
ICT Foundations (for a semester ;-; ugh required classes)
Honestly, I don’t know whether to take AP Environmental or Stats. Both seem like interesting topics, and I absolutely love mathematics and science. Psychology and Computer Science A are also options, but they seem less interesting compared to Environmental and Stats.
Also, is it normal for schools to make AP Calc AB a prereq for AP Calc BC? I know in some schools students have the ability to go from Precalculus to AP Calc BC, but my school doesn’t allow it.
@MPC6789 Yeah I’ve heard that around here too. I think AP Bio is supposed to be pretty hard too. I don’t have personal experience with either though.
I took APHG last year and the course itself was easy. I did no studying and very minimal homework. I’m taking AP Physics 1 and APWH this year. APWH isn’t really hard (except our tests, but we can do corrections to bring our grade up), but it is a lot of reading and writing. It’s also just a ton of information in a brief amount of time so you have to be good at being able to pick out the big ideas and relevant details. I enjoy AP Physics 1, but it a bit harder than APWH although I dont consider it really that bad. It is still a new exam though and had I think the lowest passing rate of them all last year (or close to it), so it is something I would approach with caution. I do have an amazing teacher though who had students who did very well last year, so I think I will be well prepared. (there are 3 seniors self studying AP Physics 2 during our block and he said two of them got 5’s and one got a 4)
