Class of 2019 Prospectives

So I was deferred and will be reviewed as a regular decision candidate. Their tumblr said, “Early Decisions applicants can be accepted or denied admission, they are not moved to the regular decision applicant pool.” so what the heck? Did this happen to anyone else?

I would contact your rep for more info @jbandy

@jbandy it happened to me too

got the packet today. nothing about any merit $$$$.

Well friend, we’re still in this! @MManager‌

anyone else getting this when trying to reserve a university college spot?

The application process for the University College is CLOSED.

If you wish to inquire as to the status of your application,
please contact the University College Office at universitycollege@american.edu or 202-885-3839.

yes, my daughter got the same thing. Maybe after vacation it will open up?

Last year you couldn’t sign up for University College until around March or so. ED1 students got first pick. Your best bet is to keep checking. American is notorious for lack of info. You have to keep checking. Also, for accepted students I would recommend joining your social media page for your class. Parents, there is a parent page on social media too. Parents can message me if you can’t find the group on social media.

Also, you can’t apply until you put a deposit down for tuition/room/board. It was around $600 last year and it goes toward your tuition, etc.

@NESeattleMom‌ Thanks for the information. The deposit has already been put down so that part is complete. Will hit them up to see what they say when they get back from holiday.

Does anyone know if the University College seminars change each year?

Yes, they change slightly in the offerings. Some are offered every year like World Politics which is very popular and fills up fast. Others are new year to year. I would keep checking the University College page. When they list the 2015 offerings, then it will be close to when you can sign up. If your kid is ED1, I wouldn’t worry too much about getting the one they want as long as they sign up before ED2 and RD can access it. I don’t know of any ED1’s that didn’t get in or their choice if they signed up early. May 1st is the deadline I believe, and some of those kids who waited until really late were put on waitlists. There was a waitlist at the beginning of the school year. They are limited by the number of spaces available in Anderson. It is good you got your deposit in already as you will then have a better chance of getting a double instead of a forced triple. My son did the American Politics and really enjoyed it. If you join the social media page for University College, you can see pictures from where the different groups went on their lab days.

University College signups are open. Only about six months to go before showing up.
