Class of 2019 RD Discussion Thread

@mcelestial‌
The guy who made this ranking was smart enough to eliminate those scores by computing an average of the 25th and 75th percentile. I believe he is a professional and knows how to get relevant numbers.

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

@doubleeternity That’s not a listing of the schools with the most “smarts”, it’s a listing of the schools with the highest test scores. There is not a 1:1 correlation between intelligence and test-taking ability. Relying on a single, highly imperfect measure to make generalizations about the general population is intellectually lazy. Frankly, it’s the kind of nonsense that’s led a lot of universities to adopt the dubious admissions polices predicated on potential US News impact that have everyone on this site so stressed out.

Earlier some here questioned whether there were any “clues” in the links sent out a few days ago by VU about the upcoming decisions. For what it’s worth, my link from VU has the word “bold” in it, and when I click on it and sign in, it has the word “adam” in it (that’s not my name).

This reminds me of the EA decisions for the University of Miami. This place was lit up by posts trying to solve the meaning of a green dot - or no green dot - in applicants’ accounts. LOL.

@Naples13 My link also has “bold” and “adam” in it – not sure if everyone’s link does.

I’m pretty sure everyone has that, I also have it. Unless we were all accepted. Or rejected :o

Do we hear about the smaller merit scholarships at the same time as our decision?

it is not “bold”. it is boid [the “i” is upper case… so looks like “bold”]. nothing much to it, other than it is some type of applicant identifier.
now, adam is some type of admissions related subdirectory in the vanderbilt webapps portfolio. do not read too much into the url directory listings…

well I was accepted early for RD and mine has bold and adam in it but probably doesn’t mean anything js

Can someone just copy and paste the link here, so everyone can compare? that would be easier then pinpointing just few characters out of the link (bold, adam, etc). Just my opinion.

I think is just the link to each individual applicant.

I don’t think posting those links is a good idea because it could give other people access to your account. Decisions have already been made, just sit back and wait.

3 more hours!!!

Just a year ago, I was freaking out about decisions just like you…

I am sure you all will be successful and happy wherever you go, Vandy or otherwise. Good luck everyone! Stay positive! Whatever happens, happens for the best

The nerves are too real. My ACT is a 33, so now I’m actually worried that my test score isn’t helping me that much because I’ve heard that Vanderbilt is really big on test scores.

Hopefully, being from Alaska helps.

http://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/vandybloggers/2015/03/class-of-2019-decisions-available-online-march-22/ :open_mouth: So apparently 75 percent of the admitted kids have CR score greater than 750. I’m doomed.

@akacesfan @Hephaestus‌ I know its easy to stress about those stats but don’t. I worried about it all day yesterday, but now we are only two hours and forty minutes away. Just don’t think about it til then

my CR was only 720…!

Okay, so ignoring everything else, someone with 750 or 750+ CR score has a 3x/4 shot whereas someone with scores less than 750 has 1x/4, where x is an arbitrary constant. :frowning: Very saddening.
