Got a no email from Coastal Carolina a little bit ago. Oh well, moving on.
When your daughter gets 5 no’s in a row, and then her best friend gets excepted into her dream school that she convinced her to apply too… Now that’s some bitter sweet pain… Rough day…this is just awful. Now why did we do this?
I agree. We knew the difficult odds going in, but having the ‘No’s’ happening for real and to our own children feels very personal in a way I don’t think any of us can prepare for, especially when these are kids who are usually chosen for what they’ve auditioned for so far in their lives.
@pookiesunshine- that’s a rough one, D has been there before- hugs!
My D in same boat pookiesunshine. Best friend accepted into a program that she’s just lukewarm about and it was my D’s #1 choice. Happy for friend, but sad for D.
Same for my D @pookiesunshine – high school classmate got into D’s dream school; D did not. Ouch times 10. Big virtual hugs!!
I appreciate the conradery. Strength and best wishes to you all… And pardon my poor spelling…
I hope tomorrow brings better news!!
I am just glad people are actually talking about the “no’s” this year. It makes it hurt a little less.
Anyone hear from BW?
You’re right, @divamamacita – I don’t think there was a separate rejection thread last year.
That’s because I would have been the only one posting…. LOL
@EastchesterMom – I think you were the one person last year who I respected(and hurt for) the most throughout this process. My D and I decided early on to be very up front about the whole process, the good, the bad and the ugly because we want others to not enter into this lightly or think they are alone in being rejected. For the top 10 -20 schools about 90-95% of the kids who apply get rejected! I just think we owe it to others to say this is not for the faint-hearted – worth it in the end, but there may be a lot of hurt along the way. Thanks for being a good role model.
@pookiesunshine … ugh. I’m so sorry!
No other way to say it … it just sucks.
You and I sure rode that rollercoaster together last year, @bisouu. If I am ever lucky enough to meet you in person, I think I will burst into tears. If we never meet, I will still be your friend forever. Our girls were bloodied, but they both won in the end!
@divamamacita - thank you so much for the kind words. I, too, decided to be brutally honest about how tough a journey it really is. It didn’t help my kid, but if it helps anyone else’s, then I’m happy. I got so much love and support from my fellow CC travelers…I have to pay it forward if I can.
@EastchesterMom and @bisouu I will have to go back and find your stories. Is there a feed I can find them on? Or you could just tell me ;)…
I can give you the reader’s digest version…applied to BU, Emerson, Hartt, Purchase, Fordham, Montclair, UArts, Chapman…redirected from them all except wait listed at Chapman (eventually admitted) but my daughter fell in love with her safety while waiting for the decision from Chapman. She was one of only two freshman cast in a lead role for the main stage show this past Fall, has run lights for the spring shows and is thriving. She has made wonderful connections in the business already and will have the opportunity to earn equity credits next year. I miss her like crazy and wish she had chosen the school right in our backyard, but couldn’t be prouder of her spunk and willingness to buck the system and go with an unknown school over a “celebrity” one. (We were directed to this school by someone here on CC as our rejections rolled in and I was panicking)
Would you mind sharing where your daughter is, @bisouu ?
@bisouu will you private message me the “unknown” school. My S is being courted by a small school, and honestly they seem so sincerely excited to have him and eager to help him reach his dreams they are winning us over the more well known mid-tier programs…
