Seems like it might be a good idea to share our rejections on here -- lots of glowing stuff to report over on the "HAPPY" thread, but sharing what we know about schools that have already sent rejections might give us all perspective? My S has been rejected from:
CCM
That letter came back in January. Anyone else?

My S also received a rejection from CCM in January, they were very quick about it…lol. It stung at the time, but we’re over it now!

My S was rejected from Purchase. He auditioned at NY Unifieds around Feb. 1st and got his rejection letter a little under a month later. Fortunately, he wasn’t super keen on that school, and he had felt it was his weakest audition performance.

My son was rejected from Shenandoah…broke his heart but not his spirit, thankfully.

Anyone else heard of schools that have already gotten rejection notices out? I’ve always heard the adage “no news is good news” but surely there are some schools that send out rejections and acceptances at the same time? Only one school where we auditioned (Viterbo) did they actually say we will let you know soon if you are not under consideration.

Lots of schools have already rejected lots of people. Still waiting on the big ones over here. Sigh…

Rejections:

Texas State (within days of December on-campus audition)
Penn State (10 days after LA Unifieds)
University of Michigan (less than two weeks after Feb. 15 on-campus audition)

Texas State was first and hardest - but it was good as it prepared my S for not having a “favorite” but being open to possibilities.

No news is good news is very true at a lot of schools. If they know they are seriously not considering someone for the program, they may try and go ahead and let them know. However, a finer line is harder to draw between waitlist/maybe and then ultimate offers, so they may hold out on those until they’ve made all final decisions.

However, this varies from school to school obviously. These rejections may sting, but they are guiding you towards your perfect fit program! Trust that the acceptances will come soon, everyone. Keep ya heads up!

Elon, Otterbein

Rejected from Ball State thus far.

2103? : )

Oops, AdaQuince. Hope that doesn’t mean 2103 rejections hahahaha!

Umich acting and mt
Coastal Carolina

I don’t care about the rejections. Breathe in, breathe out, move on. It’s not personal, just business.

I don’t “care” about them except to share information about what schools might have already sent them, that’s all.

It hard to know because it varies on when you auditioned for each school. I’ve seen folks with rejections to schools we haven’t yet heard from. No real timetables that you can make sense out of.

I find it encouraging to see that a student might be accepted by a “top” school and rejected by one considered “second tier.” It helps us all remember the process is more about “fit” than hierarchy.

Every MT kid we know (aside from those admitted to their top choice ED who didn’t complete the full audition process) was rejected by some schools, including all the kids we know who were admitted to “top” schools.

And several of the kids we know who attend “top” schools did not get in to their first choice schools.

No kid is right for every school, just as no school is right for every kid. :)

I think this thread actually is very useful info. For example, jeffandann, I see you posted a rejection from Elon, which makes me ask if this was for an early action applicant? I haven’t heard of Elon rejections for the regular applicants going out yet, and wasn’t expecting to hear from them until maybe another week or so…now I’m wondering if they have started sending them earlier than I was expecting.

U of M. That one hurt. Didn’t make it past the prescreen. They were the dream, but I move on. Ball State and U of OK. Those two just made me nervous. I’m still waiting for an acceptance letter.
