I just saw a tweet about an acceptance at CCPA. I think I want to throw up!
I love reading all of your advice and beautiful support, and am learning firsthand that all of this will come in handy as you or your child move through college casting and later career stages as well.
I know it has been said here before, but EVERY year on cc there are many kids who become NYU admits after discouraging results elsewhere. So - especially if your child has solid academic stats and applied to NYU - remember it ain’t over 'til it’s over!
Sending great vibes to all of your mailboxes!
@martin247998 , follow Dean Zylka on twitter to be up to date on CCPA. He was very entertaining last year.
thank you, will do!
This may be common knowledge, but I had not heard it before.
Kyle Dean Massey (star of Wicked and Pippin and other shows) tweeted this when he was announced as the Pippin replacement last year:“When I was 18 years old I sang ‘Corner of the Sky’ at my college auditions. Not a single school accepted me.” What if HIS parents had thought: “Well, I guess he just doesn’t have the talent”? Fifteen years later thousands of people paid hundreds of dollars every night to hear him sing that exact song on Broadway. Not a bad lesson there.
jimchief, thanks for sharing this!
@jimchief thanks for sharing this!
No from BoCo for my D, via online portal.

@tramsmom , I said basically the same thing earlier but it wasn’t as well received. Thanks for getting the point across better than I did!
@exitstageleft I believe there was a small but significant difference between your post and mine. Yours made the request that folks decline offers before final and formal acceptance if a student “knew” he or she was not interested in a school low on his list. This situation is different. Here, MTLegacy has posted that he has in fact made a final decision and has made a formal acceptance of the Texas State offer.
Sorry about the No FionaDad, but on the bright side, your pocketbook may be relieved. Boco pricetag is up there in the NYU range.
@tramsmom , I was actually talking of my post about how schools are building a class and many times it isn’t about talent, but about type. (Post #549). Some posters felt that I was saying they shouldn’t vent about the rejections, but people really liked it when you said the same thing!
A phone call from Ohio just left my heart literally racing. Turns out it was Ohio Northern University calling to tell me to finish my application so they can review my audition. This was scary because I’m still waiting on Baldwin Wallace. Phewwww… Close one.
No from Emerson! Not a surprise as I was super sick the day of my audition which consequently was terrible, and never even sent the FAFSA (what is up with the 10 schools at a time thing?!). Honestly I’m just relieved to know at this point!
aaaand now we know that Emerson has notified. It really is a relief to know one way or another, @MTVT2015. The waiting is the worst!
Wow, it seems schools are notifying on the early side this year compared to last! :-bd
I thought the same thing, @tramsmom.
People on the Facebook group are confused about whether it’s a decision for the school or the program, since the letter says nothing about theatre. Doesn’t apply to me since I was rejected, but they’re all on the wait list. There’s no way it was purely academic though—I have very high stats as did they, and Emerson doesn’t admit separately.
(Edited out my SAT score.)
Empty mail box today. No emails. No portals. After yesterday, I am enjoying the peace and quiet. The only two we have left are Point Park and NYU. Put in an app to Temple on Sunday but not sure if it will go anywhere.
