Class of 2019 Rejections, Denials etc.

So sorry to hear about Webster denials. And @Christflower, sounds like it’s been a real nail-biter at your house. Just think how much shorter your final decision process will be. Blessings to all in these final days. Then let the waitlist/final decision chess match begin. . .

After spening 14 hours at the airport, we never made it out of town to get to the PPU audition this past weekend! So…we are officially done! Just waiting on one more decision and one WL! We are all so close to being done!

Oh WOW, @MTRaleighmom‌!!

oh no!!! i’m so sorry you couldn’t make it @MTRaleighmom

My daughter received a denial from Stevens Point. Funny that they gave her a call back at the Illinois Theatre Fest and really wanted her to audition. She is pleased she got in to her top 2 schools but now just waiting for financials.

more waiting. . . . But light at the end of the tunnel.

No from JMU MT and Theatre. D received email today. Although a disappointment, there is relief in finally knowing! Helps to narrow options too…

I got my last rejection today as well! Yay for no more rejections!!

I mean, you know, for a couple of months. Ha ha.

Still checking on all of you everyday. Can’t wait to see where all of you end up!

Got another no today.

And while I know “thanks but no thanks” letters vary, and I usually don’t get stirred up about things like this … BUT …

“While we wish we could bring you better news, we have a limited number of openings in the B.A. and B.F.A. programs, and must determine whether students demonstrate the necessary talent to complete the degree requirements successfully.”

Um, say what? Did you just say my child isn’t talented? OH NO YOU DIDN’T.

That sucks!

Sheesh, @KaMaMom, it’s a little disturbing that a college admissions office can’t figure out a less offensive way to say “no thank you”!

I agree @‌Bogeyw

I’m a little peeved - but not surprised. It was the one audition that D did that she felt that the profs were over the whole audition process from the second she walked in the room. I figured they were just having one of those days … but add that attitude to the way the email is worded and … Christ on a cracker!

What a bunch of butt munches!

:-q

Agreed. That letter is very poorly stated. Typically a selective school would state that there are many more qualified candidates than spots available (and this is quite true!). Stating that they reject those who they think may not successfully make it through the program is not even entirely true in all cases. Schools like Harvard with very low acceptance rates readily admit they could accept an whole second class of freshmen as qualified as the first class they accepted. I think that is true of competitive MT programs too. And surely the letter should not have been written so negatively!

Okay, that’s incredibly rude. Sometimes letters are brief or say “you can reapply next year if you really love us!” Or whatever, but gross. I hate that they would actually say that.

How disgusting @KaMaMom‌ ! No one deserves that.

@KaMaMom - that is terrible wording! My D got a “redirect” acceptance to a BA in Arts Management instead of a BFA in MT from one program and their wording was “based on your audition, our panel feels your talents are better suited for the BA in Arts Management degree program” and I thought THAT was bad! I chalk it up to the people in the position of writing the letters not having the best communication skills. Not classy. Not classy at all! That is one that hopefully, after some time has passed, will bring a chuckle to you, instead if a wince.

Sorry @KaMaMom‌ I agree people need to figure out how to word things better. But your D is obviously talented and going to major in MT no matter what that dumb letter says. Redirections are pointless. And that letter was not nice. I mean you figure they are already rejecting us… they might as well be less rude about it. My favorite was “based on the evaluation of your audition, we are not able to offer you admission to the department” or “we’re sorry your audition didn’t go as you hoped and you did not get the results you wanted. You can still attend as a non major but are unable to re-audition for this program again.” I think I just laughed out loud at that point.

Forget about that raggedy, lil school, @KaMaMom‌!!!
