S accepted at University of Nevada, Reno University of Arizona Oregon State University Santa Clara University Loyola Marymount University. Waiting on University of San Diego and Chapman University. Thus far, Loyola Marymount leading the pack with merit money.
Congrats! That’s a great school.
D accepted to University of Richmond (ED I), Tulane University (EA), Trinity University (Texas) (EA), University of Miami (EA), and Grove City College.
My son now has heard from all his colleges he applied to: Accepted to OSU, University of Maryland, N.C. State, Appalachian State and UNC Chapel Hill! He is going to Chapel Hill. Go Tar Heels!!
I just received my acceptance letter from OSU today. Does anybody know when is the last date for accepting/declining admission? Also when will the merit aid details be released? Thanks
My S also accepted at U of K with anticipated full ride for national merit scholar finalist. (He claimed school as first choice and his PSAT will put him as a finalist) he’s still waiting on acceptance/rejection from some ivys and financial aid pkgs. Also invited to scholarship weekend at Emory… (accepted there, university of Wisconsin and Evansville Indiana)
@College67.was S a RD at U NC chapel hill?
@123Monkey no he applied EA and heard back the end of January. I believe RA comes out the end of March.
@schoolster - nationally, for every school, it is May 1. Some schools (notably state schools) may have housing preferences that encourage deposits before that date. But you don’t have to commit until May 1.
I was relieved to hear today that my daughter was accepted into MassArt (Massachusetts College of Art and Design) - it is an affordable option (though next year will be challenging with our son still in college). Even though three of her other choices would be much better fits with her preferred major in mind, it is great to know that she has a place where she can receive a decent design education that we can afford if others offer little in aid.
@123Monkey - Is that the U. of Kentucky? I am a UK alumna and happy to answer any questions. Congrats!
@momonthehill Congrats! What is your D’s prospective major? My D is leaning toward Temple right now.
D just accepted at TCU early action II. Also Baylor, SDSU honors program, Cal State Channel Islands and Pacific Lutheran University. Only has heard about scholarship money from Baylor.
ED rejection is God’s protection. In the end, I believe my D will wind up where she should be, and the heartache of being told “no” by one school will be (virtually) forgotten when good news from many others arrives. Good luck to all in RD!
Yesterday my daughter got a handwritten postcard from someone in the admissions office at Carleton saying “I loved your essay.” Does that mean she will be accepted?
She’s been accepted to Colorado college and UMASS honors college
Waiting to hear from Brown, Weslyan (CT), Oberlin, Carleton, Macalester, Middlebury, Haverford, Vassar.
@vegemama, yes, that appears to be the Carleton version of a likely letter - congrats to your D!

Hey vegemama! My son got a letter like that and I have been wondering the same thing. You are the only other person I know who got one. He has visited but I haven’t. We watched youtube videos of the campus together in reaction to the postcard.
Lizardly - We have not visited Carleton yet but definitely will later in April. My daughter loves what she knows about the school and it seems to be her first choice. We will see how it works out. Good luck to your son.
@vegemama, sounds positive! In 2013 when my D was applying to colleges, she got a personal call from the admissions director at St. Olaf saying it was the best essay he had read in that app year and then asked her if she wanted to change her app to ED from RD. She said she wanted to keep her RD in place for FA reasons. She got in but decided to go elsewhere in the end. My D has two good friends from high school that go to Carleton and really like it.
Carleton is a great, great school. S loved it, but we could not afford it–“donut hole”. Would have been over $250K by 2019. Too bad.
