I applied last year
@cauldroncastle - Which college did you get into? When are you leaving?
@alchemist9 Maybe not. Rather practice as hard as you can and do your best
vandy i think !!!
@cauldroncastle - Bro, I’ve got my TOEFL after few days and I’ve not started prepping for it either. How hard should we study for TOEFL, bro? I know it’s a basic English language test. Nevertheless, I don’t wanna take the risk of not preparing at all. Moreover, if you’ve got any tips regarding TOEFL, feel free to post here, bro!
TOEFL is one of the easiest tests I’ve ever taken. I recommend taking a practice test or two to know what the format of the test will be like. I don’t think much prep is required beyond that to get a 100+ if you’ve got reasonably good English.
just a question guys if you know will I be able to study and pay if I have a fee of 10k per year?
of course if I work simultaneously ?
Definitely not. I worked like crazy in college, and never made 10k. That includes working during summers and winters, and extra shifts every break. You also have other expenses, like books, meals, occasional transportation, etc. Moreover, you have to pay the amount to the school before hand. 10k is highly unlikely. Just run the numbers. If you work the maximum allowed (20hrs/week) during 32 weeks of school, and 40 hrs/week during the rest 20 weeks of the year, you’ll make ~$11.5k. Then there’s taxes on it, ~10-25%, depending on where you live, and what time of the year it is. Summers and winters, you have more expenses (rent/housing). And this calculation involves working all 52 weeks. Even the school isn’t open all 52 weeks, and it’s highly unlikely that you will get 20hrs/week during school year, and 40 hrs during summer, specially during the first year.
Anyone here applying to Tufts University this year?
I’m also planning to apply to tufts. @Wormrot you applying ED or RD?
@Wormrot and @ppktmnp111111
you guys applying to Tufts right? Please inbox me your Sat scores will you?
Hello people… Thoughts on giving AP exams this year? I think it’ll really boost my credentials. Grades and all are good, but I wanted to push my limits in my gap year. Plus it would seem like I’ve actually done something worthwhile (among other things)
While we’re on the subject, how exactly do you register for an AP test here in Nepal? I didn’t find anything really useful in the college board website. Thanks
I believe you have to talk to people at Lincoln School to take the APs.
hello everyone!! I am planning to apply to IVy leagues and other great colleges only this fall. I have impeccable grades
and i am confident about my SATs too. What would you suggest?
What are you asking?
@ppktmnp111111 - Regular Decision
@cauldroncastle How much aid did you receive in Vandy?
Lately, I’m having some doubts regarding submission of SAT scores. As we know that College Board allows us to send our scores to 4 colleges for free, is there any option to submit our SAT scores to other colleges for free? I’ve got 20 colleges on my list and I’ll have to pay around ($12*16) to submit my SAT scores to remaining 16 colleges (that’s just for SAT 1). It’s the same with SAT 2 and TOEFL score submission as well.
As far as my knowledge, you have no choice. For application fee, you can ask for waiver from Colleges whereas SAT, TOEFL fees must be paid to College Board.
