@wormrot Why are you applying to 20 schools? Don’t do that, that’s a waste of money and time. 5-6 Schools is a good number, but 20?
20 schools is normal for international students, @ilovevt . The acceptance rate for international students is much lower, much much lower, hence the need to apply to more schools to increase your chances.
@Wormrot If you can’t pay for SAT score submission, you might be able to talk to the college you’re applying to and ask if they’ll accept a copy of online score report print, signed by your guidance counselor. If you get accepted, then you send them the official score.
@ilovevt - No, it’s not a waste of time and money. How can you say that? Also, I’m not a genius with 4A*s and 2200 on SAT. I’m an average high school student.
@sixstringsrocker - I can pay for SAT 1 score submission, but not sure about SAT 2 and TOEFL. It’s gonna be really expensive, so I’m gonna do what you’ve suggested. Likewise, I “heard” that after paying for SAT 1 score submission, CollegeBoard doesn’t ask us to pay for SAT 2 scores submission. Not sure about it though. :-<
and it’s the same with CSS profile. college board charges you approximately the same or an even greater amount to send the CSS to colleges. or i think they waive the fees for 8 colleges automatically if you are eligible. can anybody with experience enlighten me, please?
can’t believe that the ED deadline is less than 2 months away, lol. it’s US this year! WINTER IS COMING!!!
my toefl score is 96 is it okay or should i take toefl test again???
@sixstringsrocker I will let you know now that applying to more school does not improve your chances. And @wormrot I never said you were a perfect student, what I’m saying is that 20 schools is too much. Find 6-7 schools like fit you, and your scores. And it is a waste of time + money, but do what you want.
@ilovevt It does increase the probability that you will get accepted somewhere. Increase your pool, increase your chances of being accepted at any college. It’s a factor of safety, so to speak.
Just wanted to chime in that 20 schools is not too much.
Anyone applying @Vandy or UPenn in ED?? :)>-
@sixstringsrocker why not cast the net wider??
@cauldroncastle help me with CSS, please? :’(
what documents and informations do i need to fill the CSS, besides employer and bank statements? do we Nepalis have anything such as the tax return? how long does it take to fill it? @cauldroncastle i’d be really grateful if you’d enlighten me on this pwwweeeeetttyyy pleeaaaaseeee
No tax returns. I suggest you attend one of the USEF sessions on this if you can.
have ya’ll written your college essays?
Do people not read the past threads anymore? Most of the questions are already answered in past threads. When I was applying, we only had one thread, “Class of 20xx from Nepal” and not an entire sub-forum. It was customary to read the last year’s thread, and may be even the year before that, before you start asking questions in the current year’s thread. Just read the past threads people! At least hit the search bar, and look for stuff before you post.
just surfed through all the past “class of 20xx” threads. looks like no one from Nepal has gotten in to Macalester (except ofc, the UWC peeps) macalester out of the list!
@vacillatemuch - I’m almost done with my Common App essay. Anyway, I’ve got 12 more supplements to finish by the end of this week. :3
Anyone applying to Bard or Whitman this year?
