Did everyone get the email that decisions would be out tonight
what is the usual % of admittance to Pomona rd?
@makimotto these calculations come from numbers in the CDS for Class of 2019: https://www.pomona.edu/sites/default/files/cds-2015-2016.pdf. Not saying this is official but seems correct using the CDS numbers.
8099 total applications minus 1157 ED apps (including QB & Posse) = 6,942 RD apps
834 total admitted minus 174 ED admits = 660 RD admits
660/6942 = 9.5% RD admit rate for Class of 2019
However, note that the numbers for total admitted (834) includes 38 people who were admitted from the wait list. If you subtract those people off, then 622 were admitted out of 6942 initially, which is an admit rate of 8.9% in the RD round.
It doesn’t exactly spell out the RD %, left as an exercise for the reader

@TheReds looks like we posted at the same time! Do you agree with my calculations?
wow that’s incredibly low it will be crazy if I get in with my stats. oh well. I’m hoping for scripps or pitzer to let me slide in. is Pomona or cmc harder to get into ??
@Corinthian, you are pretty close. Apparently the final admitted also included some 10 or so who were deferred from previous year (gap?) and 1 or 2 transfers. Otherwise, you are spot on.
For Class of 2020, they received 914 ED applications and admitted 19.4% which is about 177 or roughly 40% of their class. They typically have a target of 400 enrolled and their yield is usually around 40% which means they will probably make offers to an additional 550-650 or so.
Yield is calculated on composite admissions or just rd?
They typically show the yield on the whole which is around 48% usually. The 40% I mentioned was my own calculation of just the RD based on previous years.
@TheReds in the admissions FAQ that someone linked to above, it said they’re targeting a class of 415 this year.
Good to know. I think last year they ended up with 450 compared to the usual 405 or so.
I’m tired of waiting for damn rejection letters. Its already march 19 in my time zone. why won’t they just email it so i can go to sleep!!!
For those of you who don’t follow @PomonaJoel (Associate Admissions Dean) on Twitter, here’s what he’s posted the past couple of hours/days:
“When we admit a new class, we have a tradition where we ring the bell in Sumner Hall. So, in honor of the c/o ’20: https://t.co/8IJo6GF1I3”
“Decisions go live in the application status page tonight at 5:00 PDT. So for all the hopeful prospective Sagehens: https://t.co/BaIRbBuud7"
Heard admit rate was 9.1%. Good luck to all the awesome folks who applied!
