CLASS OF 2020 REGULAR DECISION THREAD

@Klossy Yes, I can’t.

The Application Decision part still says:

Early Decision I notifications will be posted in mid-December
Early Decision II notifications will be posted in mid-February
Regular Decision notifications will be posted in late March

My Lehigh letter came in the mail today, and I was totally shocked to find out that I got into the IBE program. Does anyone know if Merit scholarships have been sent out yet/would have come in the mail with my letter? My family doesn’t qualify for financial aid but I don’t think I can go to Lehigh without a scholarship

Any merit aid would have come in the snail mail acceptance package. If you are going to pay for private school costs, the IBE is one of the best games in town…scroll down to IBE starting salaries vis-a-vis all other majors.

@FZM777 I think if they still haven’t replied to your email, you should go to Twitter and tweet to Lehigh Admissions on this belatedness

Is there a groupme for Lehigh?

Just called admissions for my son because he is unable to access any information in his portal, keeps on getting the same canned response to his emails from admissions, and he cannot call during the day because he is in school and then has practice. Apparently, an engineering school created a web based information system that is only compatible with microsoft explorer. If the admissions department is reflective of the administration, my son will not be attending. They would not let us register for an admitted students day over the phone, were not the least bit helpful, just told me S has to try to log in again tonight with explorer and to keep hitting refresh. Most schools enter the recruiting phase after someone has been admitted. Not Lehigh.

I have google chrome and it works fine

The admissions rep said that some people are having a hard time with anything but explorer, which honestly doesn’t seem plausible to me. The fact they they said, just hit refresh over and over and offered no other help is infuriating. And to top it off, she warned us to register for admitted students day soon because they fill up.

@nemom2 I have the same problem. I have been accessing it again and again from so many different browsers and ways and yet it it still does not show my decision.

I have been able to use Google Chrome with no problem. Call back and try to get a different admissions rep. I had a nice person who helped me go step by step in the system & set up son’s portal over the phone. There are a few steps to go through. There are two IDs you will need, and they can give those to you over the phone if you need them: the Lehigh User Name and the Lehigh ID Number (LIN). The LIN is on the back side of the acceptance letter, if you have that. There is a password that you and/or your son will have to create. The system sent my son a validation code to his email that I had to input. I kept the rep on the line with me until I had everything I needed. My son texted me his validation code from overseas, where he is on a class trip. If the person who answers can’t help, ask him/her to get you someone who can. I begged forgiveness because I am an old, non-techy mom. During this process, she also gave me his new Lehigh email address, which is his Lehigh User Name (6 digits - his 3 initials followed by 3 numbers)@lehigh.edu. It is not the most user-friendly system, but the kids (for sure) and we parents (hopefully) will get the hang of it after using it a few times. Good luck!

I just called back today about Merit Aid - He got none for the IBE program, and we don’t qualify for financial aid, even though we did make the cumbersome effort to apply for it. Ugg. Based on the feedback he has gotten from other private colleges that have engineering schools, I would have thought he would get some $$ from Lehigh too. Maybe we will try to negotiate a little. He is a decently strong candidate.

We are going to try again tonight. I am a very tech aware mom, and my son is better, so I don’t think it is a user error. I should not have to beg to be helped from an institution that will probably want more money than I can afford. I can understand why they have a hard time recruiting kids from underrepresented communities, the hurdles they put up during the financial aid process included the antiquated file upload system (who feels comfortable faxing their very private information?) and excessively early deadlines and then the poor response to questions once admitted.

Still waiting in CT for admissions packet. Anyone from CT receive one yet?

Wait listed.
32 ACT
3.7 GPA
Very rigorous course load with full IB diploma
Strong recommendations
Great ECs: treasurer of a club at my school, internship this past summer, captain of both club and varsity volleyball team, member of other clubs, volunteer at after school program where I mentor and tutor kids, took a summer course at Brown, and more.

should I consider going to GWU since I got a 20k scholarship? Or would I receive a better education at Lehigh or Gettysburg?

No admission packet in IL. Anyone else waiting?

Got mine in Long Island today.

My daughter got into the IBE program but only got $750 scholarship. It was at least $750 more than she got from Lafayette. At over $60,000 a year (Lafayette is $66,000) both schools are out of reach. She is extremely disappointed. She’ll probably go to Pitt. She got into their Honors College and at $26,000 a year she would have no debt when she graduates.

Has anyone received any email from Lehigh after being accepted? I accidentally clicked on “If you feel that you received this message in error, or no longer wish to be on our mailing list click here” in one email they sent me and don’t know how I can add my email address again to their mailing list :((

is anyone going to the Diversity Life Weekend next week? If so, where are you coming from and what are you guys bringing?

@wendyk0314 I am, coming in from Rhode Island. I guess I’ll be bringing clothes (probably just one small luggage and a purse), the sleeping bag and pillow they requested, a blanket, toiletries, and my phone. Leaving any school stuff and my laptop at home. It’s only one weekend.
