Class of 2020 (sharing, venting, etc)

He might like Ball State - my D is a freshman there and loves it. Bigger campus feel than BW. She did Overtures and was waitlisted. Two other kids from her Overtures class ended up at Ball State. Can’t say enough good things about their program.

@claire74 , So sorry BW played you and broke your heart. I am in the throes of a rather exciting online Affair with BW and I’m quite smitten and enjoy being wooed, but I appreciate knowing that I am dealing with a player. I will be careful to take it slow and guard my heart.

Maybe this has improved in the last couple years (I hope so), but for those of you nursing a wound from BW- here is something to look out for. My D was also rejected after the November audition 2 years ago. It was tough- as all rejections are (It was her 1st “news”, and 2 friends who she had done dozens of shows with were accepted yada yada yada) Anyway - to add insult to injury, BW admissions continued to INUNDATE her with “come to our school” messages (phone, text, email) and the music department (MT is housed in school of music) continued to “woo” and invite her to events. It took multiple communications (including one VERY angry phone call) to bring contact to an end. Just wanted to mention it- because forewarned is forearmed

Ithaca also continued communication after rejection, but to a lesser extent

We kept receiving emails telling us our daughter should apply way after we already had, and it took me awhile to realize they were simply bulk emails. The first few times we received them I grabbed the phone to make sure they had her completed application. The other thing that bothers me is when schools send out multiples brochures and catalogs. My daughter received 6 view books from Pace alone! What a waster of paper and postage.

Is anyone auditioning at Rider Tomorrow? It’s my daughter’s first audition.

I’m auditioning at Rider tomorrow!

@GSOMTMom -i am sitting in lobby of hotel looking at all the dancers !! Very nervous for my non dancing daughter at auditions today!! After your response she applied and here we are -

@GSOMTMom -it turns out you were right, the MT audition at Point Park was a very comfortable process for my daughter! Thanks for the suggestion. We loved the school, amazing facilities

We had a good experience at her first audition at Rider as well. Unfortunately she has a bad cold but she somehow pushed through it. They were very warm and welcoming and it was a completely stress-free experience. @musicalkid98 How you enjoyed it as well!

More terrific audition advice from someone who’s been on the other side of the table - Chris Peterson, Founder/Editor of On Stage - onstageblog . com/columns/2015/12/13/my-best-advice-for-your-bfa-audition

@lake4 Fabulous! I’m glad that she had a good audition experience there.

My son was just accepted at Hartt, only two days after his audition! Has an “Acceptances” thread been started elsewhere? After some early rejections, this feels very sweet. For those still planning to audition at Hartt, it was my son’s most positive audition experience so far. All the kids came out smiling, because the audition panel took the time to chat with them and ask them questions. It didn’t feel rushed and impersonal, as a couple of other auditions did.

@boatmom Looks like you are the first… CONGRATS! The moderators will pin it.

CONGRATS to your son! Very exciting!

Congrats!!!

Congrats on being the first! I’m sure that will boost his confidence for the rest of his auditions and he’ll have a greatt season!

Great News! Congrats to your son!

Excellent!!! Congrats!

Thank you all for your congratulations!

Just posted in the newly formed thread of acceptances! D got accepted last week to OCU!!! and to Ohio Northern. So excited and so relieved to have early acceptances. We have not gotten a good response to our prescreens. She is convinced she looks bad on camera. So not true,… but we definitely are not passing the video prescreens. I don’t know what we did wrong. This acceptance to one of her top top choices makes the failing to pass prescreens bearable.
