Congrats! As another parent of a child whose pre-screen results were less than stellar, I’m relieved to hear that success can come after pre-screen disappointments. I’ve decided to take the view that my kid was the wrong “type” for the school, based on looks, height, etc. or factors like our family income, and rejection had nothing to do with talent as viewed on the recordings we agonized over. Good on your daughter for bouncing back!
I added our acceptances so far into the two threads. It’s nice to have a couple of yeses early in the process. Congrats to everyone who received a yes and break a legs to all of those still auditioning.
@boatmom Congrats! Great to hear your son had a wonderful experience and WTG on the quick acceptance! My D was working the audition and is an MT Freshman, so if you have any questions about the program, feel free to PM me. She is SUPER happy that she landed at Hartt.
Hi there! I just recently got accepted into the BFA MT program at Viterbo after a Dec 5th audition and was wondering if anyone else has gotten word?
My D got an acceptance from Viterbo too for the BFA MT program. Congrats!
tell your daughter congrats!!
@katiebean and @songgirlsmom, congratulations! Especially you, songgirlsmom–so glad that you got a happy ending after the car accident!
Great early Christmas gift! D just got her acceptance to UTampa’s BFA program!! Yes, there were tears…on my part of course!! She has received academic acceptances to a few schools but this is the first MT program acceptance!
@Joyfulmama, congrats to your daughter and to you!
Thank you @rampions !!
Thanks @CanadianMTgirl. D is super excited about the acceptance, and it soothes the mental drama of the trip for me quite a lot!
Just wanted to say congrats to all on the early acceptances. I’m sure there will be many more to come.
@Joyfulmama Congrats to your daughter and to you! I also just got accepted into Tampa musical theater!
@musicalkid98 !!! Congratulations, you should be so proud of yourself. I know my D felt a huge relief. Were you at the Dec.6th audition?
@Joyfulmama Its such a giant relief! I sent in a video audition!
@musicalkid98 Oh thats great! If you have not visited, the campus is beautiful and Michael Staczar the director of the program is very nice, funny and tough too.So be proud!!! The students we spoke to seem to love him and the program too.
Baldwin-Wallace break-up story (continued).
Dear Abby, I thought it was all over, but today I received a letter in the mail from my ex. BW has been thinking about me and feels awful about the ways things ended between us. I have many fine qualities, BW says, and while he asks me to understand, reminding me once again of the high caliber of others, he now wants to introduce me around to his friends. He says I could embrace opportunities with them and build the foundation of a relationship. He even says he and I could have a little more music together on the side. He feels so sure one of his friends will be a perfect fit for me and looks forward with pleasure to having me around next Fall. Should I listen? Or is BW all BS?
Yours, Salt-in-the-Wound
Yes, Baldwin-Wallace is now solicited my rejected son to take another BW major, with a music minor. Sorry, this ship has sailed.
@claire74 i think your calling was or is creative writing lol. This letter is pretty common for them to send out isnt it? i seem to remember someone else commenting on this topic…guess since they accepted him otherwise they still want him to come there in general…goobers…but to be expected…sure you will be getting letters for the rest of the school year
@theaterwork, I know it’s standard practice, but I just couldn’t resist one more dig at BW! It’s the reminder that son is of insufficiently “high caliber” for MT that drove me to it!
Fair warning @claire74 - my D’s year the BW bombardment was ridiculous. Not just the general university stuff (which is common) but contact from theater dept about how if she chose BW she could be a part of MT by watching the shows. It took several emails and a direct phone call to get it to stop. Looking back it’s funny, but at the time the wound was more than salted.
