Yes, I will go crazy when my D is told she is not high caliber lol @claire74 which I am sure is in our future. I think that Baldwin Wallace is alittle full of itself , just my opinion…I have heard this stuff from so many people about how they are so whatever…my D needs to scour that curriculum to make sure she wants to apply there. She wants to apply for Overtures this summer but the info on it is off putting to me for some reason on the website…
@toowonderful, Maybe the reason BW no longer pre-screens and solicits 1000+ auditionees is that they have an endgame in mind – filling up the rest of their so-so majors in tiny Berea with MT rejectees who drank the BW coolaid. Their ultimate goal is not to find the nation’s 16 next-generation superstars, but to fill the BW hopper with candidates who will shell out tuition fees for the next four years to attend a college that would not even be on their radar if they had not applied for MT. If, by any chance, my son decides to change majors, he will attend a college with the faculty and reputation to support that major. He will not be taking any sloppy seconds from BW.
WHAAAAAA?! @songgirlsmom . OMG. We just pulled in the driveway from picking up D for Christmas from Viterbo. Thought about y’all while we were there because those streets are tricky. What great news! I am just so happy for y’all to get that early Christmas present. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact me, and I can put your D in touch with mine if she would like to contact her directly. ¡Feliz Navidad!
@claire74 - at least BW MT made a “clean” break with your S - despite offering him around to “others”. When BW courted my S two year ago, he was left wondering if they would have a lasting relationship, or not, until May. S held out hope that BW MT would ultimately turn to him amongst all the other ladies in waiting - even while others at the school offered pretty baubles - but alas, BW MT severed the relationship once and for all, after many months of feigned interest. Fortunately, my S had a few other pretty birds in hand and didn’t really need to go chasin’ around THAT stupid bush.
@mom4bwayboy, We are so over BW and will keep on beating bushes until the right bird pops out!
@Autmlvs615 at Rider, they mentioned something about giving people a yes, no or maybe within a week, right? Have you heard anything from them?
@musicalkid98 and @Autmlvs615 check your Rider account online!! I sort of recall that you had to “drill down” to find your result. Last year the only way we knew that Rider had posted acceptances was thanks to CC folks posting here!! Good luck!!
@shopforpunky my Rider account status thing is confusing. It says my file is complete and under review, I have no idea what that means in relation to the MT program.
@musicalkid98 that is exactly what we see. Thanks so much for sharing this info @shopforpunky we will keep checking back.
Thanks @shopforpunky It took me awhile to figure out how to sign in, but we are also still in review.
Hi, Autumlvs, pretty sure I know you from the PARF board and that our DDs have orbited in the same sphere for a while. Hopefully we’ll run into each other at some point in this crazy process.
Re. Rider - definitely check your portal. They seem to have some cross-communications that aren’t really tailored to the applicant’s situation… For example: D auditioned for them in November at Moonifieds, got an email from the department a couple of days later thanking her for her interest in the musical theatre department & encouraging her to audition. Responded & learned it was a mass email, oops sorry, you’ll have to wait to find out the result (actually said “You are now done with the audition process and just have to suffer through the long waiting process :)” (yes, there was a smiley face & we were amused by the apparent acknowledgement that the process was painfully drawn out).
A couple of weeks ago, we were curious and looked at her portal for the first time in a long time b/c we thought she would have at least had an academic result, and it said “conditionally accepted” and when we clicked that, discovered she had not been accepted to the MT program, but to “another of the programs in the School of Fine and Performing Arts,” and that “a letter will be sent explaining this decision.” She never got a letter, but yesterday, she got a similar mass email to the first one “thanking her for her interest in becoming a theatre major,” and inviting her to schedule an audition. Since she’s got a couple of acceptances to MT programs, and a couple of callbacks & a few more auditions to go, she isn’t interested in a straight theatre performance degree, and she’s not pursuing Rider’s offer of the theatre admission. Anyway, keep an eye on the portal…seems that’s at least how they let people know they didn’t make it into the MT program.
@WTXMom, So far, it seems like Rider is first in the running for the insensitivity price this season.
@claire74 - well, we aren’t terribly upset about it, but it has been kind of weird…left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing and all? We’re happy to move on though now that we know for sure. I think I’d rather a lack of communication v. what others have been experiencing from BW!
Hi there, I’ve always been a lurker on these forums and just started getting involved so I wanted to introduce myself!
I’m Lydia Anderson and I’m a senior from Wisconsin. I started getting involved in choir in 8th grade and from there did my first show in 9th grade. This summer I attended CMU’s MT program. I’m a makeup addict and I’m second generation Ghanaian and third generation German.
My favorite programs are NYU Tisch, CMU, MMC and Point Park so far. I was rejected by Syracuse, Michigan and Northwestern but was redirected to acting by Ithaca and got a callback from Pace. I have been accepted academically to MMC and am waiting for their response to my digital audition. I’ll be auditioning at Chicago Unifieds and I’m super excited! I’m also hoping to audition for BW, CCM and BoCo but they’re booked/don’t have Chicago auditions so I may not be able to audition.
I’m excited to share stories and vent and can’t wait to hear back from you all!
Welcome @Lydiara !! This is a crazy process and a long ride…I know a boy who was at CMU’s summer program!,
Hi @CTDramaMom , It took a minute but I think I know who you are! (that sphere isn’t very big!) Still can’t believe our kids are here already!
My D hasn’t auditioned anywhere yet. She got academically accepted to Pace and offered a scholarship. She also got a callback audition for their MT program. She has auditions scheduled in January for CMU and Fordham. She’s scheduling her audition for Howard at the moment. I will say I’m not sure if she will wind up auditioning for BW. Only because their slots are filling up so fast and she keeps getting emails about something else missing from her application. It is what it is. We will see. Even if she doesn’t get the chance to audition at BW it won’t be the end of the world.
A couple of schools allowed us to go ahead and schedule auditions even before they had received every last piece of the application. Call them and ask if they’ll let you do that.
@musicalkid98 while I don’t remember the exact words, the gist of what I heard was that it is possible that some might get an acceptance in a week or so (but that this what not common), and if they knew they were definitely not interested in someone for their program they would let them know quickly as well. The rest of us would have to wait until they were done with auditions. We did receive a nice email thanking her for auditioning and really selling the program. We kind of took that as a maybe.
