Class of 2020 (sharing, venting, etc)

I didn’t see Penn State pulling anyone out to wait for interviews at ny and Chicago unifieds. Did they? I suppose it’s better to know where you stand right away.

Heard of 1 western Michigan offer

Would someone who is better at using this site than me please start a new thread like the one titled “2015 MT Notification Dates & Methods” for 2016 MT decisions? Or if there is one already out there would someone please point me to it? Thanks! And BAL to all 2016 applicants!

I would like that too! Also- I am wondering what the protocol is should a program email/call/text to accept or waitlist. Are they wanting an answer right then or do you have until May 1st, the traditional college decision deadline?

@mtgirl225 - Our experience so far (with acting BFA) is that schools notify you and want a decision by May 1. The ones that have done it verbally, say a letter is to follow with details.

@mtgirl225 – this is a question that comes up every year. You do have a right to wait until May 1 to make your decision for any school. The way some acceptances are worded is unfortunate. They can make you feel you have to give them an answer right away. Really read between the lines and make sure you understand what they are saying. They may be urging you to make a quick decision, but they can’t require you to. You should have until May 1st to make a final decision. If you are still waiting to hear from other schools, then by all means do so. Your spot in the program should not be able to be taken away. At some schools, waiting later can effect your housing choices simply because so many students have already accepted and selected where they will live, so there is not much housing left for you to choose from. I remember this was particularly an issue at Penn State a few years ago. But for all programs, you should be assured a spot in the program as long as you answer by May 1.
Having said that, if you know for certain you are not going to accept a spot in a program to which you’ve been accepted, please release that spot as soon as you know for sure. Again, do not rush. Do not respond until you are certain of your decision. But once you are certain, it is nice to let those schools know so they can offer your spot to someone else who is anxiously sitting on a wait list somewhere.

Speaking of decisions, was there a thread last year on the Final Decisions of the Class of 2019? I’ve seen the thread providing the background to some of those decisions, but can’t find a simple list of who went where.

@boatmom - is this what you are referring to?

That’s it! Thanks. I don’t know why I couldn’t find it. Anyone know where FoxinSocks ended up? As I recall, that person had about a dozen acceptances, and must have had a tough choice!

I am cutting and pasting from the link posted a month or so ago on notification methods. I don’t have the link – I copied this from the last post. This is not guaranteed accurate, obviously – but it is from April last year.

Just FYI…Ithaca already has acceptances out this year (they’ve been out for a week or more)…

Yes, @mtmama2020, I have seen that one - looking to put one together for this year. So we can start to see where things are landing this go around. 2015 Ithaca notices 3/2, but my D had a letter from them last week. So interested in seeing how this year differs.

@monkey13 & @PickALittle are the Ithaca decisions on the portal, via email or snail mail

@PickALittle and @Monkey13, do you think all Ithaca decisions were sent out? We haven’t received anything.

Have you checked your Ithaca portal? In the past, if you could no longer access your portal, it was a “no” followed up via letter.

Rider portal showing to “no information to display” – it goes back and forth between this and “pending decision” …anyone else?

Okay. I don’t think she’s checked. Thanks.

No, not all Ithaca decisions are out. Some yes’s and some no’s.

@cicimom - we had snail mail “no thank you” unfortunately - not sure if all are out but at on campus audition they said they targeting getting answers out to auditioners within 3 weeks of auditions.

@Mtmamma2020 - our Rider portal says “Under review” – it’s been four days now. I swear time has started to stand still…
