Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)

@marg928 Congrats!!!

It’s actually better than an acceptance in a way…since she’s going to the U Minn call back next weekend it might have been a bad thing if she knew she was accepted to UNCSA. Maybe she would not get as much out of the weekend as she would knowing that it’s still up in the air…if that makes sense!

It makes perfect sense @marg928. I think that is basically what happened with my D related to Guthrie last year.

Guthrie is wonderful. It will hopefully be a great experience for her.

Congrats @marg928! Would have loved to have been on that Waitlist! But After 4 rejections my D finally got a YES from Elon BFA acting yesterday! Have to wait for academic acceptance into the program until March for sure! But so excited that we got at least one yes! Softened the rejection to the Royal Welsh School of Drama email the same day LOL.

Congrats to your D @kat011
I hear great things about Elon.

@kat011 That’s wonderful! Congratulations!!

Oops I mean congratulations to @kaf011!

@kaf011 that is awesome! I loved that campus so much when we visited in August. My D and I both teared up at the admissions video! I’m still annoyed that she didn’t end up applying.

Congrats @kaf011 and @marg928!

Congrats to you both @kaf011 and @marg928 !! Elon has many. many alumni doing great things!! And yes, we would have loved to be on that wait list too…

don’t forget to post your acceptances here! That means you @Janine1 and @kaf011!

That’s so exciting, what a great program!

Ok, will do @marg928.

My D also got the news last week that she was accepted into CCM for Acting!

Congratulations @kaf011! My daughter also was accepted to Elon’s BFA Acting and she too is waiting for final academic acceptance. At first I thought the on campus audition was an inconvenience, but after having to visit the campus, she fell in love with it! Congrats to @marge928 and @Janine1 for all the good news!

Congratulations @samigaga! What am I reading here about some schools having separate academic acceptance and artistic acceptance? Which schools do that and what does that mean exactly? I mean, I know that at some schools like Rutgers, SUNY Purchase, and UMN one can apply to the non-audition BA program and the audition-only BFA program, and then end up getting into one or both or neither. But it sounds like something completely different is being referred to at Elon.

@Janine1 Elon had an early action application so if you applied by the date (November I think) you had to audition on one of two dates they had in the Fall. Then you would have had an answer early. If you couldn’t attend the fall audition dates then you were required to submit a regular decision application. I don’t believe they have started notifying regular decision students yet for any major, hence the waiting. The academic admit is separate from the artistic but so are a lot of other schools. Difference is that most of those other schools gave an academic admit early if you applied early action (Florida State, U Minn for us).

Of the separate academic/-artistic admission - Elon is the only one I have heard of where you get an artistic answer before the academic. Most others have rolling academics- so you hear about that quickly. Example: D applied to Minn Guthrie and was academically admitted within a week- months before her actual audition.

Also Pepperdine as @anitapitamom D is still waiting to hear.

By the way I was just scrolling through Instagram and Pace performing arts posted a photo taken at auditions this weekend and it said… one more weekend before we start contacting class of 2021!
