Wow that is amazing @followurheart!!!
@CMB625 thank you for the kind words. Yes, my D has amazed me with her attitude through all of this. When I felt bad to show her a rejection letter that arrived in the mail, She told me “it doesn’t matter. They can’t stop me from doing what I want to do”. I would never have had the stamina to endure this at her age. So one way or another I do think she will make this work. Congratulations to you as well. Your D sounds like she has that same drive and will be successful. Maybe even more successful when things don’t come very easily!
Thank you @LAM2017 !!
@remartin67, congratulations on the UArts acceptance! Funny–my D had a rejection (Belmont) and UArts acceptance (MT) on the same, day, too. From down to up within minutes!
As you’ve already learned, UArts aims to matriculate about 25-30 Acting majors. They shoot for about 24 MTs, but they ended up with more the past couple years (around 50 my D’s year–most who got accepted matriculated–and around 35 last year). They handled it well; they are huge on individual attention, and class and studio sizes remain small. They receive 800-900 applicants for MT, and the acceptance rate for MT is about 8%. I don’t know about Acting.
UArts claims to care deeply about individual education and attention, and they mean it. We have been super impressed with the individual focus from faculty and administration–both personally and professionally. When we initially heard that so many people decided to attend UArts for MT my D’s year, D hesitated, but her coaches assured her that the quality of training wouldn’t change, and UArts assured her of the same and that they’d still have small classes and individual attention. They were all correct, and, for that and many other reasons, D loves UArts (as do my H and I).
Plus, like @toowonderful’s D, my D has found that she likes the class size with its variety of people and number of contacts.
@remartin67, feel free to PM me if you have other questions about UArts!
Fantastic @followurheart, congratulations. We’re still very early in the process. Lots can happen in March.
Yes, @remartin67, if you have any questions about UArts, @myloves has been so incredibly helpful! My D is definitely excited about her acceptance there, especially because she found out her friend from OH was just accepted to the acting program! Even though my D is MT, she is excited to know a friend may also be going there. We still just want all of our notifications so we can make a decision and get excited about it! Not to mention I have an 8th grade girl for whom we are also anxiously awaiting her letter of admission/rejection to a public high school in our area that you have to test to get into. She will find out Friday. This is the most stressful week I can remember!
Congratulations @followurheart!!! That’s wonderful news!
Congratulations to you and your D @followurheart! I am sure that is a huge relief and now you can celebrate!!!
Thanks every body! It certainly makes the wait bearable. As @Jkellynh17 posted, we are all still early in the process. Financial aid is a big concern for us still. :x
I found out today I was accepted at Viterbo for a BFA in Acting!
@WhiteRaven1 Good for you!!! And I think you already have one from Shenandoah, right? You are on roll!
Congratulations @WhiteRaven1!
@WhiteRaven1 That’s great news! Congratulations!!
LAM2017 Was the Belmont letter for MT? We are waiting to hear from them. Sounds like letters are in the mail. We have literary competitions on this week to add to the stress of waiting for letters! Congratulations on your daughters UArts acceptance!
@Janine1 when did your D get her acceptance to CCM for BFA acting and how was she notified? We are anxiously awaiting some news.
congrats to @followurheart and @WhiteRaven1!
Hello everyone I was wondering if anyone knows if whether not CalArts sends out a acceptance email as well as a package?
@NicMusic my D didn’t apply to Belmont. It was high on our list last year and then she chose not to apply this year. Funny how fluid that list is! We got our rejection from Ithaca and a redirect to BA at Rider and waiting for the other 7 or so! Good luck with the literary competition. My D is in tech for the school play this week. It’s a great distraction!
@ANJALU My D’s acceptance from CCM came via email last week on Feb 21st. There was still no change on the admissions portal for a couple of days after that, but by the end of the week the admissions portal had also changed to reflect her admitted status.
@puffpink we are waiting on CalArts too but I have no idea how they sent out their acceptances. I emailed them the other day to ask when we can expect a decision but they haven’t responded.
