Class of 2021 (Discussing application season, sharing, venting)

@Lac48220, yes, still waiting here, too. Not a word so far.

We got an e-mail from Syracuse yesterday afternoon that it was a no for this year but would like him to try again after a year of college. They may have been concerned his grades weren’t good enough. I think there is still hope if you haven’t heard yet.

Something I wish I had known when my son was a Freshman at a school that is a 14 hr drive from home. As soon as you can, purchase their ticket to come home for Thanksgiving. The dorms will likely be closed and they will HAVE to go somewhere else. If a bus or train is an option you might be fine waiting but for flights they are already 2x as much as they are any other time to the locations my son is currently considering (even more than that to Boston) and as it gets closer to Thanksgiving it could be more than 3X the normal rate. I paid over $700 to bring my son home his freshman year when a normal flight is around $200 - oops.

Just found out D was waitlisted for the acting BFA at Western Michigan.

@Chirodoc Just curious how your daughter heard? Waiting on MT…

@flipflopmama3 I told her if she didn’t email them and check I would call them today. She sent the email last night and she got a response this morning.

@flipflopmama3 I am guessing your daughter is on the waitlist if she has not heard, the email said she didn’t hear back yet because she was on the waitlist.

My son is. I called on Friday and they said they’d sent the email but we never received it. They told him to email and have them send the decision to my email since there was some sort of problem with my son receiving their emails, so he did that. Still didn’t receive anything from them. I called again today and they said decisions were put in the mail either yesterday or today. So, still waiting…

@aberdeen2017 Strange, I know they have my D’s email correct, she is getting other emails from the college. But she never got a waitlist email. She had to email them to find out. I guess we will get a letter in the mail in the next few days.

Is everyone still deciding on schools? I am having so much anxiety as each day comes closer to May! Right now I am in the process of seeing if Shenandoah can give me anymore money and it sucks because I’m not sure what I will do if they cannot give me enough.

@WhiteRaven1 I think many of us are in similar positions…having financial aid discussions with schools, making visits/sitting in on classes, gathering opinions and info on those final choices. I know my D is anxious to get to that final decision, too!

Do you all think we should post our final decision on the MT thread or start a new one in this forum?

@marg928 I like to read them here so my vote is BFA acting final decision thread here. That is what we did last year and it worked well.

@bfahopeful I wonder if it’s time yet? Has anyone out there made a decision yet?

I would think so.

My D made a decision at the end of March. Love seeing everyone’s final decision stories. I had a few days of “buyers remorse” Lol! The financial aspect felt a bit like it did when I bought my house, I feel better this week.

@Lac48220 @actingbee re: Syracuse last week’s wave - email notice went out Thursday early evening; about 10 kids in my daughter’s h.s. (all different majors) received WL status - only one acceptance. Also some WL (no acceptances) in the batch of her theatre friends who were in last week’s wave. Good luck on hearing soon!

okay here it is!

My favorite thread. Thanks @marg928!

@bfahopeful I can’t wait to finally be able to post on it!
