@momocarly - I live in Fort Collins (CSU) if you have any questions. My S also got accepted into CSU and the honors college.
Thank you!
My DS was accepted to UPitt and RIT. Still pending for VA Tech. He’s pretty much decided to go to RIT but I’m still curious if he’ll be accepted to VA Tech once they have mid-year grade reports. Hid major is CS/Game Design & Development.
D just got accepted to Macalester ED2. She will be withdrawing her applications from Dickinson, Kenyon, Grinnell, Muhlenberg, Lawrence, Beloit, and Juniata. Juniata is the only one she had heard back from before Macester. Very excited to start this adventure; we are from New York so Minnesota is uncharted territory!
Congrats to your daughter, @IBviolamom ! What a great school! Buy some super warm boots and enjoy the adventure! <:-P
Thank you @cameo43! We will be shopping for serious winter gear for sure!
I may not be a parent, but I just wanted to gloat that I received a likely letter from Yale! I feel like I can’t really talk about it at school because… I don’t want to show off when a lot of kids haven’t received good news yet, so I’m sharing here instead!
Congratulations!!! My husband and I met in freshman commons on the first day of freshman year in 1976! I hope you thrive there as we did! Boola boola!
Hi Parents of 2017! My D was accepted to the University of Alabama, Baylor, Florida State, the University of South Carolina and the University of Maryland. She wasn’t accepted to the University of Virginia or The University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She’s really excited to attend Bama - been talking about if for years. We are nervous
as is far from home (we live in MD), but we know it is a great school! Any insight on Bama would be appreciated! Thank you!
DD, our first to head out on this college adventure, has been accepted ED2 at Smith College. Extremely proud and happy for her as it obviously was her #1 choice. Smith meets 100% of need and their numbers were in the ballpark of what I believe we can afford. Very thankful for that.
As a parent, not sure I’m ready for her to pick up and live 3000 miles across the country. I know she’ll do great, but still a little un-nerving from where I sit.
My son has been accepted into The University of Colorado Boulder and Colorado Springs, UIUC, Texas A&M and UT Dallas, just waiting to hear from UT Austin (#1 pick). He is a Mechanical Engineering major.
I also was accepted at University Colorado-Boulder but the merit aid offered was not competitive with what IU Bloomington offered me. I was also accepted at Georgia Tech and University Michigan Ann Arbor. Waiting on 4 other schools, UChicago (deferred), Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, and Cornell all regular decision. It will come down to affordability, all great schools and I’m sure I would be happy at any of them. Visiting UMich for the first time next week. I’m pretty excited about that!
You will love UMichigan. My D spent two weeks there at a summer camp, and would have happily attended there if she didn’t get into her reach school.
Thank you for the reply! I am really looking forward to seeing the campus. What school is your daughter attending?@hebegebe
She will be UChicago, class of 2021. Good luck to you on your UChicago application.
Thank you! Congratulations to your daughter! It was (is) my #1 choice and was disappointed at being deferred but then I saw how many really strong students were deferred and didn’t feel so bad. I did not do ED but rather EA as I couldn’t commit until I knew the cost and if we could swing it. Will see what happens! @hebegebe
My son applied to 3 schools, only one EA to which he was accepted: Villanova. He was accepted into the Honors College there as well. Waiting to hear from Stanford (reach) and RPI. We live in the southwest so I am a bit nervous for his adventure so far from home! (Just being a mom! HA)
He and my DH are going to Villanova this weekend for their Candidate’s Day. I hope he loves it as much as he did when we toured it in the spring! I did read a thread on here that said it has a reputation of being a little snobby so I am kind of worried about that. We did not sense that AT ALL on our visit, so I was a little shocked to read it. Anyone from the Northeast that can set my mind at ease?
