how do you know?
@ragvu How do we know what?
Are there any scholars (Specifically danforth) who haven’t received a call? I got my notification on pathway but still haven’t gotten a phone call…
@HopefulGrad1 Yeah - you have to be approved for WashU before Scholarship panels will even look at your application. Is anyone else not able to make the weekend for their designated scholarship? The Ervin week coincides with the National Horatio Alger week, and I can’t miss the latter event.
@LockAndKi Thanks for answering my question! You can also try to call the admission office to see if they’ll be flexible with their interview date.
@LockAndKi as long as you’re not going to another school’s event they probably will work with you.
FYI, to any scholarship finalists, you need to make the Finalist Weekend your main priority because it is only on one weekend and if you miss it, they will give your scholarship to another person. In the past, at least for Rodriguez, only one exception was made and it was for singing to the Pope in Italy. If you have any conflicts, do call and make sure whther they will or will not allow exceptions.
@The Shark Do they keep any scholarship applicants on a sort of “waiting list” in case people either can’t make the scholarship weekend or decide to go to another school? Would they ever reconsider anyone they’ve already rejected? (rejected for scholarship, not admissions)
Worked out fine! If the other Horatio Alger finalist wants to make his or herself known lol, we’ll probs be flying in on the same alternate weekend
No, any scholarship finalists that turn down the weekend are rejected entirely. You are still free to come to the school since being a finalist made you accepted. Scholarship finalists that turn down the weekend are taken off the list and the number of finalists reduces.
@the shark I think I might have been confusing. What I meant to ask was what do they do if one of
the scholarship finalists decides to forego the scholarship and accept admission at another school? Do they pick another person to be a scholarship finalist in that person’s place? Or do
they just give out that many fewer scholarships?
Well, many congratulations to all of you who received scholarships. You are very lucky and I’m sure you worked hard to get where you are! We got nothing. It feels pretty bad right now but I’m sure we’re not alone. It kinda feels like it on this thread though.
conway art scholarship finalist B) kinda feels like a mistake considering I applied last minute, forgot to attach my resume, and demonstrated 0 interest in washu … any other art majors??
@TheShark I turned down the weekend, though I did have a good reason, and the director of my program just gave me an alternative weekend. I think someone who just didn’t show without just cause would be turned away, however.
If serious conflicts do arise, please get in touch with respective directors as soon as possible! They are willing to work with you if they deem you to be an otherwise serious candidate.
Hey guys!! I was wondering if scholarship finalists receive admissions packages in the mail at the same time as regular decision.
I just found out I qualified for the first time for my state’s Math Olympiad… and it’s April 1st. Ah, well… an easy decision, but still disappointing.
I’m a finalist for the Rodriguez scholarship! I’m super pumped because I was deferred from Early Decision and I thought there was no way I’d get in! Can’t wait for March 30!
@Jamillion Congrats! That must feel amazing. I can’t wait till March 30th, either!
Ervin finalist here… but I don’t think i ever got a call, does that make a difference…? I’m just a little concerned about that. But washU has officially booked my ticket and I cannot wait to meet everyone!
