Quick question about application/ merit scholarships

So on the "Future Plans" section of CommonApp, I checked "Yes" for if I intended to apply for the merit-based scholarships. However, I haven't started anything for those yet, and I am now not sure if I am going to apply since I don't think I will have time/ even get it. If I don't apply, but checked the box, will that reflect poorly on my application? Or does that happen a lot? THanks!

I wouldn’t worry about it. I would imagine it happens a lot.
Scholarships aren’t due for 2 more weeks … maybe you’ll find the time after all??
Good luck to you! :)

Not sure, but I did the exact same thing; checked yes and then never submitted any of them after I found out that they weren’t really for upper middle class, white, male engineers from the suburbs  I think you’ll be fine.

did you get any merit aid w/o filing apps?

NMSC, but thats mandatory for any finalist (semifinalist? idk) who goes to WashU.

Other than that, a quote from WashU Admissions’ website:

You just described me perfectly too. I hope it is ok, since the only reason I even considered applying was because it might help show I have demonstrated interest in the school. I have already visited, interviewed, met with the regional admissions officer at my school, so I hope I am OK in that category.

It definitely will help show that you have interest in the school, but like you said, you clearly have shown that you do have interest in attending WashU. Hopefully it all works out the best for you!
