Is anyone else dying waiting for these letters???
Me @EIS0301 you are not alone. It is so hard.
Hang in there 2021! For those of you going to Unifieds…be sure to to do walk ins!! Some of my S’s favorite auditions were walk ins @ Unifieds. He actually ended up @ one of his walk ins! TCU wasn’t even on his radar let alone list and BAM… break Legs and breathe. I promise it will all work out! My son is a happy soph BFA MT @ TCU. AND YES…the waiting is hard
Thanks! @tmygirl that helps!
@Mel2421 Where did you audition early?
My D’s coach told us last night that one of his students did Guthrie as a walk in just to practice his Shakespeare and got accepted on the spot and he’s there now!
@tmygirl my D only has 4 auditions for Unifieds-all afternoons (TCU is one of them), so she is going to get up each morning and scope out walk-ins. It seems that you just never know.
@marg928 Guthrie has changed procedures as they have become more Popular They don’t usually have walk ins available (possible but wouldn’t count on it). And they do a call back weekend - about 60-80 kids called back to on Campus auditons. Nobody is accepted until after that. Although I suppose an “off the record” admission could be discussed in the room. My D had two schools tell her she was admitted but that it wasn’t “official” until a certain date, etc.
First college acceptance today, Fullerton State. It feels great. My D is so happy, her response was, “I’m really college bound!”
If you have the time and energy, walk-ins at Unifieds can actually be fun. My d had a good time doing walk-ins and that’s where she found her dream school, Western Michigan. We had to scratch WMU from her original list due to schedule constraints (we couldn’t make the on-campus audition dates) and we were pleasantly surprised when she was able to fit in a walk-in in Chicago!
Walk-ins can be fun because:
- Pressure tends to be a lot less because you have no built-up expectations.
- Finding out about new programs with features that you didn't know about can be exciting.
- Schools with walk-ins can frequently seem much less forbidding, and frankly, much more fun than schools with long-filled appointments, formidable information lectures, long audition sessions, lots of serious expressions, and a long line of beautiful people in jewel tone shirts and A-Line dresses who look really worried (I really felt like I could hear the opening to Chorus Line echoing down the halls at the Palmer House: "God, I hope I get it, I hope I get it, how many people does he need, how many boys how many girls, ...please God I need this job, I really *need* this job..."). My d came back from her walk-ins saying, "That was so much fun and the people were so *nice*..."
I got my rejection email today from Baldwin Wallace, one of my top schools. I hear back about their BFA in Acting on Friday so hopefully it is better news then…
100% good info, @EmsDad. Except for one thing: Floral prints are the new jewel tone! :))
It might be time to start an acceptance thread and pin it to the top of the page? Very exciting. Congrats to all.
Great idea @Jkellynh17 …ditto! Newbie here…can someone do that please and thanks? Congrats to all acceptances!
@EIS0301 My d auditioned for Pace, Viterbo, Penn State, U of Arizona, Point Park, Wright State, OU, Montclair, Texas State, Coastal Carolina, Texas Tech, Rider, Otterbein and Missouri State.
@bfahopeful my D has her Guthrie Unified audition booked luckily! It’s the first one of hers that weekend. She has a total of six so far for Unifieds and more the following week and weekend.
@Mel2421 all those auditions already??? Holy cow my D hasn’t done any yet…looks like she won’t do any until Unifieds at this point.
This is sorta off topic but is anyone else’s kid having sorta a crappy senior year so far? My D is sorta and I feel bad for her. Maybe she’s just over the high school thing or maybe it’s because she goes to an arts high school . I don’t know but it’s just one thing after another. The politics of stuff in high school which I think was brought up before by someone… I don’t know…
My son’s senior year was torture pretty much the whole way through. He LOVES college.
Yes @marg928 we went to Moonifieds.
