Rice probably learned from CC or elsewhere about last year’s mailing issue. Last year before the release date, some people could see a package had mailed from Houston. I bet Rice fixed that this year.
Has anyone checked the portal? I was wondering whether Rice might surprise everyone with a decision today instead of tomorrow, since ED decisions came out on a Thursday in December (instead of Friday, which was the release day for previous years).
I just checked and there wasn’t an admissions decision!
Thank you for checking! It was just a hunch. I guess tomorrow is the day. Good luck to everyone!
Does this link work for anyone? I believe this may be a sign of admission:
https://mynetid.rice.edu/oams/app/setup/.
Use the rice id you received through email.
@AverageTeen2000 are you able to? I get an error
@AverageTeen2000 I’ve had so many experiences with glitches and registrations and stuff, so idk how much faith im gonna put into it as a sign of admission
where can i find the rice id
@PBern123 they sent an email titled: “Action Required: Rice Admission Student Portal”. It’s in there
Is it working for anyone?
@AverageTeen2000 What happens for you? I just get “Invalid credentials entered”
@ElGuiri Thanks, mine is coming up with the message invalid authentication credentials. I hope that doesn’t mean anything.
It likely means a password change was attempted.
Has anyone been able to login successfully? I am getting the “invalid authentication credentials” message as well.
The NetID is not an indicator of admission because you won’t be able to access it until you are admitted. The “ID” provided for us to access the application portal is used to help Rice track our applications. If you read under the entry box for the ID, it says: “Your Rice ID number can be found on your ID card (see image), or in your welcome letter. It is usually a 7 digit number preceded by a letter.”
So don’t fret if you receive an error message! It does not mean you are rejected:)
Sorry if I was unclear–I just read it over and realized it could be misinterpreted. You will not have your actual Rice ID until you receive your acceptance letter. The numbers they give us are for applications only, not for actual admitted students. Hope that clears it up!
I also have a question–will all of the emails be sent out at the same time or will they be sent throughout the day before the given time?
@hopefulowl1011 the portal will be updated at 4:30 CST and emails will go out a few minutes after.
@MaybeHarvard2022 Thank you! I’m just trying to figure out if I should plan things throughout the day to distract myself from the 4:30 release or if I need to sit around and wait all day haha. Loops like I’ll be making myself busy tomorrow!!
@hopefulowl1011 I would definitely recommend keeping yourself busy!! I did it on QB day and didn’t know decisions came out until a friend told me. No matter how busy you are you’ll think about it, but the anxiety is much less when you’re busy.
hey everyone! I’d feel lucky just to get into rice but do you guys know if rice gives substantial merit aid, and if it would be in your decision letter if you received one? I think I remember seeing somewhere that only 1-3% applicants get one so I’m not banking on it or anything, just wondering for tomorrow?
