Didn’t see a thread for this, so anyone get off the waitlist yet/know if they will be taking people off of it?
did you get an email saying if you want to remain on the waitlist?
yes, got the second e-mail about responding if you want to stay on the waitlist. haven’t heard anything else though. Anyone else?
did no one get an email still???
My son also received this email
My daughter was called by her admissions officer yesterday “excited to discuss her application.” Said she could call back or email. She emailed and they responded with an email saying the wanted to know if she were still interested in staying on the WL. So she called her AO today and he offered her admission.
montanascout- are you from Montana? Can I ask what your daughter’s intended major? Do you think she will accept their offer?
montanascout congrats to your daughter!! mind posting her stats?
No not from Montana, from the south. She declined the offer…hard decision but feel it was right decision. Really really hard to let it go.
ACT 33, 4.2 Weighted GPA
had about 30 hrs at W&M from AP’s
W&M was going to cost about 2x her current committed university. We asked about financial aid but didn’t expect anything and didn’t get anything of course.
montanascout- Understandable and thanks for posting her stats! Did she ever email her admission officer of any updates or do anything that would prompt them to get her off the waitlist so fast?
She sent some updates immediately after decision day…like the next day. She had received a couple writing awards and she submitted a strong letter of continued interest. We also did a visit to campus mid April b/c it was the only time we could go! She met with another admissions officer b/c hers was out of office. She made sure they knew she was there that day and expressed her continued interest. Going into that visit W&M was #1, but it wasn’t a great visit. The guides were under impressive. And campus was extremely quiet with no one out & about.Very low energy. Maybe that’s not normal but its the visit she got so all she had to go on. A few days later we visited #2 (where she is currently enrolled) and it felt more like a fit but since she was WL at W&M she really didn’t have a decision to make. She had planned on contacting W&M and strongly pursuing admission from WL but decided just to sit back and let it happen on its on. I think W&M wants to know how much you want to go there…additional recs, conversations w/admission officer I think makes a difference!
For those on the waitlist this year, I was on the waitlist last year and got admitted a few days after May 1. What really helped me was writing a strong letter of continued interest and good second semester grades. To anyone really wanting to go to W&M, I’d suggest making a strong case for yourself in a succinct letter to admissions. Good luck, and feel free to message me.
@greeneggsnhem I thought most of these schools didn’t want to see second semester grades
Anyone else get the email?
yes
Congratulations @dochoo !
no, just got the e-mail asking if wanted to stay on waitlist, saying that class was full essentially.
If you check their admit it blog, as of yesterday they announced it is looking like the freshmen class is somewhat full but I would not let it discourage you guys! They say they still take students throughout the summer if space is made
@medfulofmind I just looked on the Admit It blog and didn’t see anything more recent than March?
@prodesse they’ve been responding to students through the comments
